Burnout Paradise should get the award for "Most Awesome Downloadable Content that People Actually Want to Purchase".

It....it would be a huge ass award.

Their previous DLC would have given them GOTY from me, but I'm just a commenter so they probably won't care.

Now if they would let me PERMANENTLY REMOVE the vile Guns N' Roses bile I'd agree.

Seriously, if I had known I would have never bought the game.

Also, please let me PERMANENTLY REMOVE that "dj" asshat.

I think people are going to be shocked when they see how much the Ecto-1 DLC actually costs. After all, it needs some suspension work. And shocks. And brakes, brake pads, linings, steering box, transmission, rear end. Also mufflers, a little wiring...

They're good w/ their DLC. I recall they wanted to do this to try to prevent it from being traded in and not getting money from used game sales. Anybody know how that's working out for them?

I saw a copy, once, in GAME, it wasn't there long.
Seriously. TONS of other games, hardly ever see Burnout.

I'm certainly not planning on getting rid of it. Can't say that for any other games i've had for A FUCKING YEAR!!

/making a note here, huge success, its hard to overstate my satisfaction

If you loath guns n' roses and that horrid nbc thursday cheeseball you will avoid this game like the plague that it is.

Seriously, you can not even turn the junk down, it's forced down your throat each time you boot it up.

The games "settings menu" is severely lackluster/absent.

Alright, I think these are cool and rock, but Criterion is riding a really fine line here. These aren't parodies, just ripoffs of beloved cars. It seems like they may be building some ill-will with some of the IP owners here by ripping off their images rather than licensing them.

If the "Legendary Cars" were all free, I'd have less of a problem with it. But as far as I know, these are all in content packs you have to pay for, right?

There is a content patch coming out that you have to pay for. However, ALL of the previous patches have been Free. Thus why Criterion has been doing such an amazing job. In those free content patches includes, motorcycles, more challenges and so forth. Really good DLC!

So I am not positive if these are in the island DLC that you will have to pay for but if not, then they probably are free.

Nope, looks like they are charging for these, though I didn't see how much. From their site when they announced the Legendary Cars pack:

"This is the first of 4 cars that we're making available as part of a wealth of new downloadable content for Burnout Paradise. They're available to buy individually or discounted, if you pick up the whole set."

If you're going to charge for them, then they're just being greedy by not licensing the images. Yes, I know they've released a ton of great free content. But the only reason people will buy these are because of the original associations. That's making money off someone else's property without even really trying to fit under one of the protected areas, like parody.

Okay, I retract one fourth of my earlier rant. Te Mexican flag on the General Lee is definitely parody.

People can make money off of parodies. Just because the car LOOKS like the Ecto-1 or KITT or the other cars doesn't mean it really is. Plus Parodies are protected under the constitution. Why do you think Weird Al is able to make all his songs?

Well Weird Al usually gets permission from the original artist before he releases his parody, except for Amish Paradise which involved communication errors on both sides of Coolio and Weird Al

But look at Robot Chicken, that is nothing but parodies.

I don't really see where the Delorean, KITT or Ecto-1 are parodies though. A parody should include some form of humor or mocking and I just don't see it with those three. Just because you copied something does not inherently make it a parody.

The General Lee is a different story. Putting the Mexican flag on there is actually humorous and a different take on representing that icon. The others are just rip-offs and therefore I don't think are protected against with the parody exception.

parody doesn't mean it has to be funny it can be done with respect and appreciation of the subject.

Looks cool. Did they add the retry option yet? I remember renting it but I got annoyed with all the time you spend driving back to another event. I would definitely buy it if they added a retry option.

No, no retry option. But the game isn't really designed to have one.

Perhaps it would be a nice feature.. but there are so many challenges everywhere, that you just are supposed to pick up another one if you fail.

@Deck

That's true but let's say I do a race event and I fail 10 seconds right before the finish line. The only events near me are stunt events. Your telling me I would have to go back to my garage, change my car and then go back to that event?

Too much of a hassle. I know they don't want load times but I would have gladly waited through a 5-10 second load time if I knew it would be to restarting the race and saving me the frustration.

No, it's blasphemy!

I LOLed when he said "also looks amazing in orange"... but then I saw the flag, and I think my inner child died a little. :'(

Let me guess, the horn plays "La Cucaracha" instead of "Dixie". *whimper*

I may just buy the other three cars singly and leave this one out. That'll show 'em. (Unless it's cheaper to buy the four-pack, 'cuz I'm cheap like that...)

Does K.I.T.T. --er, I mean, the "Nighthawk" come with "Super Pursuit Mode"?

And if cars with "alternate modes" are the new thing, does that mean it's only a matter of time before we see a red and blue Mack truck that converts to a giant robot?

I would love driving the Ecto-1 playing the Ghostbusters theme in the background.

I thought this, but I was just being an idiot and I figured it out... on the music tab just go to the bottom of the blade. Instead of choosing 'Music Library' choose 'Select music'.
Same as before.

I just got Burnout over the holidays and I think it's an excellent. I really like the open world concept. Even the lack of retry isn't that annoying. I'm disappointed it didn't do better on the year end awards.
