Crossing streams: Ghostbusters game confirmed for week of June 16
It sounds like everyone is on the same page now about the Ghosbusters game release. Sony Pictures stepped on Atari PR's toes by revealing the June 16th date, coinciding with the Blu-ray release of the movie. Atari has since confirmed a June 19th date for the UK. Just to make sure everyone is in on the party, VG247 has confirmed with the game's developer, Terminal Reality, that it's "always been planning day and date release with the Blu-ray discs."
Terminal Reality chief Mark Randal says "it will be a huge Ghostbusters week!" That may be true, but how the company's game reviews and sells is a whole other question altogether. Randal wouldn't say if there would be a special edition game and Blu-ray movie box set. We wouldn't count it out -- but that would certainly move a couple units.

After all the delays, I'm praying that this game is good. Because Ghostbusters was one of those guilty childhood pleasures, and I'd love to get more than nostalgia out of this game.
Erluti @ Jan 9th 2009 10:13AM
Whoah buddy. The term "guilty pleasure" refers to something that isn't very good but you like it anyway. Ghostbusters is a good film.
Maybe Ghostbusters 2 is a guilty pleasure, but not the original!
T @ Jan 9th 2009 10:19AM
Good catch. Though I think I was using the term more to the fact that I loved it as a kid and today whne I have a chance will still watch the old movies (and *ahem* cartoon)...

Sounds like there was someone else out there who made their own proton packs consisting of a bookbag, and empty paper towel rolls.

I did in fact go as a Ghostbuster for halloween once when I was a kid. Homemade uniform and all.

I really hope this kind of movie tie-in deadline doesn't hurt the development. I hate that shit.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 9th 2009 10:53AM
it was SUPPOSE to come out last fall but didnt because of the fall thru with ActiBlizzard......
I'm sure they have been basically just doing some fine tweaking for the most part.....
GhostofGrendel @ Jan 9th 2009 10:09AM
I hope the game engine uses the same technology that NASA uses to track deep space pulsars. And please, a game box construction using Selenium filled girders designed by Ivo Shandor (which coincidentally is my stage name). :-)
jumpshot @ Jan 9th 2009 2:30PM
Haha nice! Also, they should really look into having the BR box open like a fridge to reveal Gozer inside. Or not.
Erluti @ Jan 9th 2009 10:14AM
I simply cannot wait!

I LOVED the cartoon! Even after it became "The Real" Ghostbusters it was still pretty good. At the end though it got a little bit kiddish (if that's a word). They started featuring slimer way too much. My favorite episodes are when the had to fight Samhain, cool bad guy.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jan 9th 2009 10:32AM
The cartoon was always The Real Ghostbusters, since it was a response to some shitty canadian cartoon that had the name Ghostbusters.
GhostofGrendel @ Jan 9th 2009 11:28AM
@Vegeta
Your right it was always "The Real" Ghostbusters, but I seem to remember in the first season some episodes didn't have "The Real" on there yet, at least on the title screen of the cartoon. Not a big deal, I could be wrong that was over 20 years ago. I think they originally added that little sprite flying in on the title screen to the upper left hand corner of the word "Ghostbusters" a little later. Anyone else remember that or am I crazy?
Ottozer0 @ Jan 9th 2009 1:41PM
@ GhostofGrendel
Yes I remember.... But like you said no Big Deal.
Actually I hate Most Movie To Video Game GAMES. But this one is one I'm looking forward too. I miss the Ghostbusters...I mean all of these other 80s movies have gotten sequels..Rambo4, Rocky6, Ternamator3&4, Indiana Jones, just missing Back to the Future & the Last Star Fighter To even all it all out!!! Cant wait for Ghostbusters 3
jumpshot @ Jan 9th 2009 2:28PM
Haha I remember SamHain!
"Ghoooooost-Baaaassst torrrrss!"

WiNG LifeInAGame.com @ Jan 9th 2009 10:31AM
How did Atari know to release it the week of my birthday???
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 9th 2009 10:37AM
BD/PS3 Game Bundle might result in a purchase from me instead of a Rent........
Miguel @ Jan 9th 2009 10:42AM
Same here! I would like a bundled with GB1, GB2, and the game.
Gumbyx84 @ Jan 9th 2009 11:08AM
2nd-ed. I would LOVE a bundle with the game and Blu-ray movie together. I already own 2 copies of GB 1 and 2 (original DVD releases and the double disk "slim-pack" from a few years ago), but with the extras the BR release is going to have, I think I will have to break down and get it.
To be honest, it doesn't matter. As long as I get the game, I will be happy.
Courtney @ Jan 9th 2009 11:55AM
I typically don't go for bundles, but this one might get me to bite. Sony should also push a bundle, as it would drive owners of both PS3/360 to pick up the PS3 version.
David @ Jan 9th 2009 1:36PM
In the spirit of being a smart-ass nitpick, those streams seem to be lacking the purple lightning that spun around the main stream.
GhostofGrendel @ Jan 9th 2009 3:12PM
you're right, they did look weird for some reason. I couldn't put my finger on it...
