Spoiler alert. These videos contain many things from Killzone 2, including story points and gameplay from the later parts of the game. Of course, these are totally awesome story points and gameplay, so if you don't mind the game losing a little mystery, you're in for a treat. Having said that, the first video is both spoiler-free and the best of the bunch. Entitled "Ballet of Death," it shows off the game's detailed and bloody death animations, put to a classical music soundtrack. Nice. Check out all the videos after the break.
I've seen these already ,but it's always nice to see them again!!! the game just looks stunning, I reserved it a few days ago and got my voucher for the demo from Gamestop, I can't wait to play it!!! :D
So, be as completely candid as you can be... and tell us how it was. Also, if you wouldn't mind, tell us how old you are and what your top three favorite games of all time are. That will help us establish a baseline for your taste. Thanks! :)
21 almost 22, been gaming forever. favorite recent games are Metal Gear Solid 4, Socom, and Gears of War (1). I played it on a 1080p 40 inch sony bravia and have never seen anything so good in my life, and never had more fun with a multiplayer game. :)
Every time I see this game, It look less impressive graphically, and yet It get more impressive. What does it. The animations. Killzone 2 has the best animation I have ever seen in a video game PERIOD. Hopefully this will inspire other developers to stop using those ridiculous looking rag doll physics and start using weight and momentum to determine a characters movement and reactions. Cant wait for this one.
All they did was distribute some additional weight to rag dolls... it's still heavily based on rag doll physics (at least when they die or are flying around).
Actually, SoulBlade. They made a physics system JUST for the deaths. They do use Ragdolls, but its not the same Ragdoll system everyone uses. They also gave every enemy and ally Muscles and bones. This means that Bones break, muscles snap and it all looks orgasmicly real. :)
I bought the latest episode of Qore, and they explain their animation system, which is pretty cool. They've motion captured a ton of different movements and combined them, so you can have one of many motion captures being used for your legs while your upper body could be one of numberous motion captures at the same time.
They've done the same with the ragdoll aspect; they've combined the ragdoll physics with motion capture, so ragdoll is used when appropriate, instead of all the time.
It also has the standard localized damage, which integrates into their animation system pertty well.
Well, if their change to death animations is so simple, it makes you wonder why others haven't done it before. Because the death animations look a lot better than anything I've seen in other games. Its really a lot of little touches; kill them while they're firing and they continue to fire a couple of shots. Shoot out their legs and their arms come out, as if to stop the fall.
Hopefully, they put that much attention to detail in everything, not just the death animations. Seeing the animation where you wipe off your cross-hairs makes me optimistic.
I think that's simply another idle animation that other games have done, like checking the gun or marveling at it's beauty etc. But animation like that is always welcomed. It seems like this game won't disappoint.
lol. That looks AMAZING!!! But did anyone else notice in the 2nd trailer, as they were dropping... the gun that the guy to the left is holding starts blinking? I no its not a big deal... Just bored out of my mind.
There is only one (main) problem I see with this game. How smart are my AI teammates? Will they stand in my way? Will they take cover and wait for ME to kill the bad guys? Or will they do what real people would do... HELP ME. Other than that one concern... it looks so awesome...
The blinking weapon simply indicates that you can now pick them up. It just shows the smooth transition between "still an enemy weapon" to "weapon available for pick up", they don't have to hit the ground before this happens.
Not when they are on the ground. When they are in the ship and it is crashing. Right after the explosion in front of them. The guy is on the left, and alive.
Why wouldn't you buy this game omg, I can't imagine how slow the DL will be for the demo with the zillions of people trying to get it but still, god this game is amazing lol...
$ony is dead, admit it LOl this game looks like crap!
Just kidding... I got jokes... You kow that would be a real comment if this were posted over at Joystiq :P I'm sooo looking forward to this game tho. I'm preordering for the demo.
I'm very excited for this game. Beside MGS4, it's the only ps3 game I preordered. I just wish they weren't so few and far between. By the way, how about some iPhone-friendly videos?
Ive wanna spread the gospel of Killzone 2 to the other gamers hoping to make a conversion cause they will truly see the light once they get a glance of this glorious and bloody FPS.
