CES 2009: Joystiq rocks and loses Rock Band 2 tourney

Yes, we came in second, but it's actually good news for you, as we'll be giving away our consolation prize full of SanDisk goodies. We're not saying that the applause meter used to hand our victory to PC Magazine was rigged, but at least half of our band have opened for The Who. Make of that what you will as you watch the video right after the break.

Congratulations to you and for Joystiq for an awesome effort!
I'm no expert, but I have consulted the ancient tome of all music: past present and future and have deciphered the symbols, millions of aeons old to reveal the secret of ultimate success in all future tournaments....

Why Mr. McElroy you're all gussied up there, you must have visited a habidashery before departing for CES as I was under hte impression you only owned sweatpants and hoodies.
PCMag Drummer @ Jan 10th 2009 5:15AM
Yeah, you guys were definitely hard core. But in the end, "Carry On Wayward Son" took the day (as it always does). PCMag + Kansas = Unstoppable.
Voce Comm Female Vocalist @ Jan 12th 2009 2:18PM
Here here bandmate! I totally agree. Joystiq, you guys were SOLID. We knew we really needed to bring it in order to beat you guys. KANSAS... guaranteed crowd pleaser. Nice playing with you though. I'm a FAN of your "Rock" band.

Justin eerily reminds me of Jack Black at the end of High Fidelity in this video.
Scooter @ Jan 10th 2009 1:59PM
No you misunderstand. McElroy is Jack Black.
Edog Lost @ Jan 10th 2009 1:39PM
Justin,
If this writing thing doesn't work out, you could make it as a musician. I think I saw you do this song live at the Joystiq E3 after party. Some of your best work. However it's no where near as good as your rendition of the Gummy Bears theme. Still my favorite.

Moptimus Slime (Leader of the Ryan Scott Defense Force, in honor of the Jan. 6 Massacre) @ Jan 10th 2009 3:29PM
see, if only Harmonix would release Girlfriend as DLC, Justin by himself could've made PC Magazines faces explode with pure awesomeness

Vegnagun bwf @ Jan 10th 2009 3:52PM

Kamizar @ Jan 10th 2009 5:22PM
How amazing would it have been if the orange pedal broke during the contest, and yes I know RBII "don't do that"...
Brendan H @ Jan 10th 2009 5:28PM
Is it me or does the drummer look like she's wearing a witch's hat that got chopped?
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Jan 10th 2009 9:00PM
Not bad but I would have chosen Rick Astley Never gonna give you up.
Even if you don't win you can always Rick Roll the Audience.
Quattro @ Jan 10th 2009 10:19PM
Pump it up
devin g @ Jan 10th 2009 10:42PM
HAHAAHAHAHAAH thats cause my band won that day. TC THE BAND got a 390 cause our singer got a 100 on exp i got an 81 on bass (the calibration was off or i would have gotten a 100) on hard. our guitarist got a 97ish on exp. and the song was "what you want"

zuburi @ Jan 11th 2009 12:44AM
If you turn on "No Fail Mode," it's actually so easy even a caveman can play it!
devin g @ Jan 11th 2009 3:40AM

Jens_T @ Jan 11th 2009 2:29PM

rjg @ Jan 12th 2009 3:44PM
Ok, now I get the article about the dude in the sleaveless shirt... you guys seriously need to workout or join a real sports team. Maybe hockey, it worked for me...
