IGN reports that "multiple sources" at LucasArts and "elsewhere" indicate that the developer's next-gen Indiana Jones game has been canceled; however, Joystiq has contacted LucasArts for an official statement and things don't appear so cut-and-dry.
According to a LucasArts representative, "LucasArts remains absolutely committed to the Indiana Jones franchise. While we are aware that fans have been eagerly awaiting additional information on the upcoming game, they can rest assured that details are forthcoming."
Well, that doesn't sound like the game is dead, although there's certainly wiggle room in that quote to speculate that the long-in-development title has been killed with another taking its place. Of course, that would just be our old friends Rumor and Speculation stopping by to say hi.

How about they commit themselves to a new Monkey Island game (and more like 1, 2, and 3, not 4), Full Throttle, or another Grim Fandango?
Because if the new Indiana Jones game is anything but a SCUMM-powered game, I'm not interested.

Because it's easier and cheaper to pinch off Lego shovelware and pacify opposition with nebulous rumors.

Ugh, hell no, I mean, those titles without Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer, and Dave Grossman? No thank you...

I think I might agree with you.
Seriously, all they had to do was adapt Fate of Atlantis into a movie and it would have been 1 bazillion times better than whatever the hell that was that came out last year. Cause as you all know, FoA kicked ass.

Well it doesn't really make a difference since one's already been made ( Uncharted)

I think Lucas it too busy laughing at us and planning Indy's trip to an alien cave in the sub-arctic, where he'll meet the elves.

I'll probably run outside and punch a couple of puppies the second I hear they've really canceled it.
