Again with the cheating: although 1997's Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero told the same story on both the PSOne and N64, the latter was done through static images and text due to space constraints of cartridges compared with CDs. When I first learned this truth from Tips & Tricks magazine in 1996, my first response was "Dag! Now all those posers with PS's will be all jiggy! Snoochie boochies!" (as was the vernacular at the time).
Yet in the end, those who made their way through Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero were better off without the FMV cut scenes. Why, you ask? Because the voices you give to a character when reading their dialogue is usually believable. Thankfully, Mortal Kombat's cut scenes have gotten much better. The intros for Deadly Alliance, Deception and especially Armageddon were all entertaining and well done.
