Warning: Beware fake COD5 beta invites

Robert Bowling, better known as fourzerotwo and community manager for Infinity Ward, has
dropped a warning for overeager
Call of Duty fans out there. It seems there's an email circulating the web inviting gamers to join the
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta. The problem is that there
is no Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta and, as fourzerotwo points out, Infinity Ward hasn't even announced its next project yet (though we'd guess the fake email
isn't that far off).
The email in question (which you can see above) is identical to the email sent out for the
Call of Duty 4 beta in 2007 apart, obviously, from the replacement of the title. It appears to come from COD5BETA@infinityward.com. If you receive such an email, delete it and go on about your business. And don't worry, we're sure there will be a
real beta for the next
Call of Duty sooner or later.
