Robert Bowling, better known as fourzerotwo and community manager for Infinity Ward, has dropped a warning for overeager Call of Duty fans out there. It seems there's an email circulating the web inviting gamers to join the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta. The problem is that there is no Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta and, as fourzerotwo points out, Infinity Ward hasn't even announced its next project yet (though we'd guess the fake email isn't that far off).
The email in question (which you can see above) is identical to the email sent out for the Call of Duty 4 beta in 2007 apart, obviously, from the replacement of the title. It appears to come from COD5BETA@infinityward.com. If you receive such an email, delete it and go on about your business. And don't worry, we're sure there will be a real beta for the next Call of Duty sooner or later.

Yeah I thought it was very weird when the Email said I had to enter my social security number and bank account to get access.
But the strangest part is when it I got to the part where it said “A benevolent Nigerian Prince with a terminal disease will notify you of your access Signed: Infinity Ward and The Canadian Drug Pharmacy”.

No, according to Activision, COD:WaW isn't COD5, and i wholeheartedly agree (i really thought of it as a disappointment). It all felt like a step back from what IW had established with COD4
Also, did anyone try putting the code in, what if it gave you like a million MS points :P

I really enjoyed Call of Duty: World at War. While it didn't have the same thrill that MW did, I think this is largely due to the story - one is historical and one is fictional.
What some people don't realise is that Treyarch laid the foundations for Call of Duty 4 in CoD3. They introduced a basic ranks/perk system, the sprinting system, weapon classes, etc...

There is people like this on everything. It is the simple Dark Knight saying, "Some men just like to see the world burn."

W@W was what COD4 should have been, u cant make a game in the cod series and have it take place out of ww2. it be like halo 4 taking place in civil war, activision took advantage of the cod series to make an extra buck.

@ jon paul, im curious to know why you dont like w@w? how can one like cod4 and hate w@w? they are identical as far as gameplay. there are 2 things that arent as good, the maps and the enemy a.i. but its still an awesome game. especially mp.
so since it doesnt meet your standards, please explain why. maybe you know something the rest of us dont?

well i agree with him, World At War was painful to play, and it felt like i was playing Modern Warfare with beer goggles on. The Weapons were worse, the Computer Players were borderline retarded, and the story was incredibly repitive and boring. How many times can you get captured and survive unharmed.
