@anonymous gamesaver,

if you'd like to see why I'm against gamesavers (and other form of gamerscore cheaters), you can read my thoughts here:

Could MS/Xbox sort out those achievement Wh***s that get different region copies of one games.. like army of two (3), enchanted arms (2) & Bioshock (4 regions).... as they are the same game - shouldn't they count against the same 'scorecard'..!?

The future game support is the only thing that bothers me about Halo Wars. Sure they said they'll support it. But Bioware said they'd support Mass Effect with a lot a DLC and look how that turned out.
You can't take a developer's words as fact.

@ Anonymous (XBLA saves question)

Arcade games DO NOT save into the game file.

Rather, they save into your gamer profile. This is actually MORE convenient, as it is backed up by Microsoft's servers. Meaning, if you recover your gamertag, it'll recover your Arcade gamesaves too.

This is also why gamer profiles get really large after a lot of use (Mine is 10-13MB, can't remember).

I think Microsoft only saves your achievements on their servers, not game saves. In fact, I think they warn you about that when you try to recover a gamertag.

The warning is actually saying that any offline achievements will be removed.

What I have said is not official information from MS. However -

I've recovered my account at a friend's Xbox, downloaded Worms from the XBLM, and hopped onto challenge 19. How else would it know I'm that far?

Or...my friend recovered his account onto my Xbox, and we played Castle Crashers. All of his stats, animal orbs, weapons, etc. were there.

I was going to say most XBLA use the profile.

The reason people with alot of games take a long time to recover is due to this.

Some games such as PDZ I think even use the profile to save.

Thank goodness there won't be another Shadowrun. That game was a joke. They release a full priced 60 dollar game with no single player, and a handful of maps and then get mad when the game gets bad reviews. Seriously?

I too had a launch Xbox 360. The manufacture date was 10/29/2005. I pre-ordered it from Game Stop slapped 50 smackers down on an Ultimate. I picked it up 3 days after launch date. I was quietly proud of my Launchbox, that it had never RROD'd. Then Last week while watching a frikkin' pirated Pixar DVD with me 3yr old, it screamed an electric scream and the screen froze and then the RROD came up like a scarlet letter shaming me of my pride.
My "friends were like... dude your tooootally out of warranty, your gonna have to cook it in towels like that Youtube video."
... shit... stupid xbox...
then I did the unthinkable I called tech support and LO they said in that oh so cute accent from what country I dont know... "we will fix your box and foot the bill for shipping." "Sir are you there?" When I woke up I had an email in my inbox with a link to a shipping label. So its now in the hands of the Maker of Xboxes now...

No for reals they grandfathered my Ancient Xbox in and paid for shipping even though the warranty was technically defunct as of 10/29/2008. Mine died on 1/5/2009 and I shipped it on the seventh... Hopefully I will get it back before Christmas...

My launch 360 just RROD on me on saturday. I thought my warranty would be up too, but I too got a free repair. I just went through the website and was shocked to see the total charge was $0.00. I would have been content to buy a new one since I went through 4 PS2's and 3 XBOX's last generation.

So, it will suck not having the 360 for a few weeks, but not as bad as buying a new one.

For Gregg, I'm sure you can Best Buy's warranty if you bought it within the last 30 days. If you can, I recommend getting it since you can get in and out with a new 360 without waiting for weeks to get one from MS, and looks like it'll be good for his health not waiting.

I don't think he's battled the Flood recently, but he's starting Forza 2 again...

Thanks everyone!

If Gamerscore is meaningless, then why the crap do you care if MS doesn't want you to cheat to get a higher one.

Tell you what Anomy-ass, go ahead and cheat and gamesave to up your gamerscore. Then, when MS resets your score to zero and brands you as someone who illegally increased their score, it won't matter because it is meaningless anyway.

@ Gregg:

Get the NEW Nyko Intercooler TS (TS edition is very important) or one of the older fan sets that are powered via the rear USB port.

Installing your games will greatly reduce heat. Also, make sure you have it standing up vertically, not laying on it's side.

I've heard of people intentionally damaging their XBox when it was coming up against the warranty window, finding ways to make it get the RROD. I wonder if that has anything to do with MS being even MORE generous with their returns. Why not look like good guys and repair a few units that actually break than have to report additional RROD issues and get stuck fixing some that may never have encountered the issue.

Samesave cheats piss me off. I've spent forever trying to get close to 10k. I don't play much. But then I see people up around 100k and find out they just cheated to do it. I hope your achievements get reset, cheats.

Anyone know how long it takes the MS repair center to recognize that they received your xbox? What i mean is UPS says it was delivered 2 days ago but when i check the status online MS said they were still waiting for the console to be returned.

Maybe i'm just being paranoid, but i don't want MS to claim they never received it.

be upset not worried. i just sent in my THIRD deadbox, the repair center is only a couple hundred miles away so turnaround from when i ship the box has always been a week. but if ups says its delivered, they have it and are just behind on repairs?? im thinking about slapping a $10 bill on the box with a note that saying "please send xbox made within last year" anyone think that will work?

I mailed my Xbox in on 1/2/09 and it took them a solid 12 days total to send me an email that they received it. It sat in status of Delivered for three days alone. I got the email today that they received it and it went straight to repair in progress status. I know you must be tripping... CUZ I WAS FREEKIN... just be patient. And dont pull out your hair

My 10/29/2005 launch 360 also got the RROD this week and like the posters above, Microsoft is fixing it for free. I thought it was indestructible since it lasted so long, but apparently not. It died after using Netflix streaming.
