This has little to do with SCE and how the PS3 is doing, this is Sony's other divisions going into the red. Personally I think that as long as SCE manage to reach their profitability targets this year as they think they are going to, then these loses in Sony's other divisions will only impact them marginally.

The US dollar has dropped 30% vs the YEN this past year...so sales in the US now contribute 30% LESS to SONY's bottom line.

Second! (Fail?)

The NIKKEI IS THE STOCK EXCHANGE not a news agency!!!!!! Its like the DOW JONES, the FTSE or NASDAQ

I also saw reported on another site that SCEJ and SCEA are cutting jobs while SCEE is still understaffed and they are still hiring

Sorry, Majed, but no matter how many times you post the link, it will still be a stock index and not a news agency; DOW and NASDAQ have site pages like that too.

@Kattleox & WBrodie, you don't know much about business firms, do you? It isn't necessary that if Nikkei is an exchange, there can't be a news service by the same name.

The link is for Nikkei Net Interactive, which clearly looks to be a news organisation. It could have some association with the Nikkei stock exchange.

Think it down the some BATTERY problems and some long time investments in LED/OLED factory's. Also they have also probably done right downs on assets values.

NikkeiNet is independand of the NIKKEI, Nikkei business dail refers to NikkeiNet, saying nikkei on its own refers the the stock exchange

the same as http://www.djnewsanalytics.com/ is not refered to as Dow Jones, but Dow Jones News & Analysis.

of course sony is suffering: sony ericsson handsets < iphone, sony walkman < ipod, sony vaio < macbook pro.

i'm not saying apple is their only competition, but it's just becoming harder for sony to be unique in this environment. even bravia has lost their edge to TV lines like Regza, Aquos, and Scarlet.

plus, the economy...
