You said it Mike, but I'd love to play the Boss on Rock Band's superior interface, but I'll still D/L this for the World Tour, then I'll have 12 or so songs that I'll fire up GHWT for.

When GHWT hits the clearance rack, I'll have some DLC already then. I picked up their earlier free music and still don't know when I'll get the game.

What's wrong with GH that makes RB so superior? Is it just the tons of DLC? If that's the case I'm glad that I don't have RB b/c I would be broke..

Nothing really. The whole "I love Rock Band & hate Guitar Hero" thing never made any sense to me. They're basically the same game with the only major difference being the song selection.. which doesn't anything when everyone is has different taste in music.. In the end you're just hitting notes that pop up on the screen.. who really cares how the background looks or how the characters move? I say have fun and get both.

I enjoy Rock Band far more than Guitar Hero, it just feels more social and casual than GH, and the much hyped drums for GH are a huge disappointment.
I also personally liked the backwards compatibility where i borrowed my friends RB1 and ripped the tracks on for a mere 5 bucks. The animations on GH is way too cartooney for my liking.
I enjoy the "World Tour" mode in Rock Band (confusing but Activision's fault), its far more like a real band mode than what GH has.
Also in the Guitar hardware, I like The GH WT far more than the RB guitar. Though i still prefer the GH3 guitar over both of them.

My wife can play Rock Band 2 just fine, but Guitar Hero World Tour gives her a headache. She says its because of graphics on the fret bar coming toward you on Guitar Hero distract her. I have to admit, after playing GHWT for an hour or so my eyes are kinda swimmy. She says the fact that the fret bars are semi-transparent on Rock Band 2 help tremendously.

Personally, I think RB2's interface is much cleaner. When playing with a full band its easier to see how your fellow bandmates are doing, how much overdrive they have, etc. Add that to the fact that you can 'save' a band-mate if they fail.

Oh and the fact that with the exception of a few songs all the RB1 content is in RB2 so we don't have to swap discs to play an old favorite and its just another feather in its cap.

Don't get me wrong, I love Guitar Hero. As far as fake plastic guitar games go, I still think Guitar Hero 3 is just about perfect. GH3 had great songs, and all the songs on the main playlist were by bands you've heard of and songs you love. To me, GH3 on Hard is more difficult than RB2 on Expert.

That doesn't change the fact that when friends are over, they can get into RB2 quickly, but GH:WT is confusing and the interface is muddled.

DeadPlasmaCell: "They're basically the same game with the only major difference being the song selection"

Uh, yeah. As in, Rock Band 2's is much more vast, which is the main thing that matters with this genre of games. And, as others have said, the interface is superior, as is (arguably) the charting.

Personally I feel that RB has made obvious enhancements and changes to the interface and other things that are extremely welcome. GH, on the other hand, has really left things alone beyond expanding the instruments.

I think it's just made RB more enjoyable to play.

And I'm gonna throw in my 2 cents too. Almost all of my friends prefer World Tour over Rock Band. Why?

Note charts are more fun with alot less of that annoying nothing but banging on the same chord relentlessly, hammer ons and pulloffs are not as picky, they love the drum set, I like the less blurry graphics, and medium difficulty is more challenging. Not too mention everyone loved the new changes like open string, additional cymbal in drums, and the newly added sustained notes while another is already being played. The slider bar some have dabbled with but is not really a hit so far. I also like the tournaments in World Tour better as they are for all levels of difficulty.

And I finally played some xbox live multiplayer last week, and its true that Quick play sucks, but Career multiplayer is great! It only requires 2 players(you don't have to wait for a singer like some mentioned) and it played without a problem.

Does this mean we now hate Rock Band and become ultimate Guitar Hero fanboys now? NO. There are still some of my friends that love Rock Band more, and the others who like Hero more still enjoy it too. And I've bought a ton o' content for Rock Band already for the parties. So, it just means we mix it up with both games.

FINALLY some answers! Thanks for all the replys. Now I know that the songs are the main difference b/c all I care about is the guitar and bass sections. I'll buy RB once i get sick of all the GH songs. :)

re: The Wrestler - I'm not sure, but that might have been a trickier rights issue considering it is part of the movie soundtrack. Maybe someone other than Springsteen nixed it.
