Judging by the big hand on the office clock it's time for new details concerning Activision Blizzard's upcoming 'targeted' new IP, Singularity. Right on cue, the game is the cover darling for Game Informer's February issue, with the 'zine's online site teasing new details on the sci-fi shooter with a time-sensitive twist.
First shown in brief during Activision's not-quite E3 press event last July, Singularity is being developed by Wolverine dev Raven Software. According to GI, the game will let players jump through history and use time as a weapon, rapidly aging opponents into bones and dust. We wonder if it works the other way around, letting us turn the opposition into sniveling babies or angst-fueled tweens. The issue, complete with the snazzy cover above, should be fluxing its way onto magazine racks soon.

"Time is your weapon."
I hope this isn't some Taoist game.

You can use time as a weapon...gee, this was an enticing game mechanic 4 years ago.

Interesting concept. Hopefully it will be more engaging than hokey when it comes to gameplay.

Maybe it will be the most awesome, dangerous combination of genres yet a 'Mini-game Shooter'.

samfish,
....aren't you supposed to be defending the Wii on another thread rather than piss on a game that, even if it turns out to be another Haze (as equally terrible as it is critically panned), will still provide a more enjoyable experience than 80% of the games available to your system? I kid, I kid...well, for the first half of it, anyway.
On a serious note, anyone who constantly drones on about "Oh NOOES? NAWT 8NTHR FPS!" should really just pipe down and consider that, if they don't care for this particular genre, they have more than a fair number of great options available to them; the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 aren't particularly starved when it comes to sizable, quality libraries. The Wii...eh, not so much. I'd like to bludgeon both John Madden, 2K's CEO, and EA's CEO into a coma with a PS3 (only because it weighs a little more than 360) every time a sports game is released, but you won't see me actively hating on that particular genre because I A) don't buy those games and B) my systems aren't overly saturated with them to the point of being detrimental to other genres.

This game may turn out awesome, but seriously, can someone possibly fit more generic into one magazine cover?

I am interested only because of Raven Software. They made Star Trek: Elite Force years ago and I played the hell out of that on the PC. Sure wasn't a great game, but the multiplayer was awesome. I did some much LAN gaming with Elite Force, anything Raven touches now could be gold to me. Gold I say!
Though.. this may just be another generic shooter... it has been a long time...

Anyone else see that and fear that we were getting a sequel to Legendary?
That game really could have used an extra four months in the can.

Is this the game I heard about (a while ago) where you could freeze time, as your target is shooting at you, move the bullet so it hits something else and causes a chain reaction of stuff breaking etc. that eventually causes the target to die?
If so, I'm excited.

I too vaguely remember a trailer for a game with time travel. It might have been an early timeshift, but it was a lot more exciting and dramatic than that

TIME isn't the weapon...a gun that shoots CLOCKS is the weapon. Razor sharp clocks. Color me intrigued.

Didn't Raven decide to concentrate on Casual Games? Or was that Ritual?
