"I am now proposing that we refer to Gundam as Sprinkles from now on. Do I hear a second?"

Nice one Brett. But we should not leave out Alien Lord. What shall his name be. Nuttchugger?

BTW what is your PSN?

I bought the Resistance 2: CE from the Sony Metreon launch event which ended up being cheaper than the regular edition. Otherwise, I typically don't shell out the added $$$ for a CE. Killzone 2 looks good, but I'm hoping they have plans to expand the game's featue set via (free) DLC. No co-op? That single-player campaign better knock my socks off...

I shall give them a go, nothing better the reliving the steps towards Halo :D

Halo is a great game, no doubt, despite my own personal grudges against it (and yet I am still keen to play new Halo games dispite how much they dissopoint me), it really goes to show that any company with the right resources and links can pull a game or even themselves out of the gutter and produce something spectacular.

You know what pisses me off, when they give you these CE games and price it £10 or $10 more then the normal game price with nothing but a book inside with concept art you could get off the internet, a DVD saying how they made it which is pretty damn useless to some people unless you have a keen interest in making games yourself, a DVD with interviews which is again pretty damn pointless, a DVD with CGI clippings, which is AGAIN pretty pointless unless it reveals parts of a really interesting game plot, for the likes of Gears with little or no plot for example, it's stupid, a graphic novel, pointless figurines, helmets and a heck load of other pointless shit.

Its like going to Mac Donalds and buying a happy meal to get a singing hippo, and eventually you get all the different coloured singing hippos and later throw them away.

I mean, having a special edition Halo helmet is great, if its rare, but when 5 million + other people also have it, its a bit stupid.

exactly. it just seems like another way for these game companies to squeeze a little more money out of me with little to no effort. just record some crap while your making the game, do an interview with a home video camera, and slap it in the case and sell it for an extra $20. sounds like a rip off to me in the majority of cases.

i can never really justify buying the CE of games anyway. i bought a used CE of Ninja Gaiden Sigma as my first PS3 game and later sold it on eBay for like $70, when i only paid $45 for it. so that was pretty cool. but other than that, the closest i've ever come to buying a CE was for GTAIV when the guy at GameCrazy talked me into preordering that edition, i went in a couple days later and switched it to the regular version. $90 for one video game? what's the point?

CE are overrated. if every game has one, then doesnt that make it less valuable anyway?

Killjebus, I'm pretty sure that given the choice of any PS3 game, most 360-only owners would take MGS4.

Although if the multiplayer of KZ2 ends up being as good as expected then getting to play it with the 360 controller would be awfully tempting, even as someone who will already have it on the PS3.

As it is, it's gotten enough hype that it will get me to do something I thought I'd never go back to. Play an online shooter with a dual shock controller, something I haven't done since Timesplitters.

Anytime a Xbox website says a PS3 game is good, then it must be. Let alone the fact that the game is even reviewed on a Xbox website says that those same Xbox gamers are foaming at the mouth over it. Get over it, its going to be good. Systems don't make how good the game is, the developers do.

Don't stop now guys. We're almost to the point where replies to the first comment are all that is on page 1.

For my money, I love special editions, and I buy them whenever they offer something that I want (Mjolnir helmet for instance). That said, why would anyone cry over the lack of a special edition, or think that it says anything about the quality of the game? That is ridiculous.

(as a PS3 owner, I want Killzone 2 to rock. I'm so afraid it will suck like the first one did though. I should have gotten into the beta, but I neglected to. Now I'll have to either rent first, or buy and take my chances)

"Guerrilla Games has put all of their effort into creating this masterpiece of a game, so we didn't actively pursue a CE."

that can be taken different ways.
im sure a pro ps3 fan would say that they dont need a CE and the game is great on its own, which is probably true..
but then theres the other side. you have to look beyond what is said by a company and see what it really means, you know the stuff that would put them out of business if they told us.

IMO the comment means this:

Guerrilla Games has put all of their effort, resources, and money available into creating this masterpiece of a game, we didn't have the resources and money to actively pursue a CE. and after seeing the poor sales of other ps3 CE's such as resistance2, we are moving forward with the game only. so enjoy the game for what it is, hopefully the best FPS of 2009 on all platforms and we did not want to waste some of our resources and money on a CE which are not popular and not a part of the game.

we all know sony and their companies are strapped for cash and resources now right ??
thats how i interpreted the comment.

after i found out kz2 has 5 bot modes available for online play i was happy. i can only complain about no co-op now, which may come to the game.

the ps3 fans are right though, there is too much hate over this game from the 360 fans.

I wouldnt say i was completely trashing the game before. I was just listing my reasons why i would not buy the game on day 1 for $ 60 and I listed my reasons. After more review though i have learned more and I do have much more interest in the game.
it does look great.
i love FPS games and this could be the best one in 2009, but modern warfare 2 shouldnt dissapoint either.

I just think it's ironic that the people who say that there are no reasons behind why Killzone 2 will hopefully be amazing are using the lack of 'Exactly the same game but with some nifty (but usually pointless) extras' Edition as a central reason behind why Killzone will suck.

The obsession with Collector's Editions is part of one of the problems with this generation. Every game is trying to be so epic

Killzone 2 is interesting from a technical perspective, certainly

good point...
& im sure most of the time a developer and publisher puts more money into a CE than they get back.
so it probably doesnt make business sense either.

I must admit I usually don't care much about CE's .. but I had to have that Vault Boy Bobblehead for FO3. But I think Fallout franchise was already a classic historical legacy that deserves that kind of treatment.

Yaknow, I wouldn't be too bothered about CEs if they were preorder and limited edition, like 100 available for first 300 buyers or what not, that way I wouldn't feel conned as I'm just buying the game quicker rather then paying more for nothing.

Some devs have the audasity to charge you extra for CE then on top of that for DLC, wtf? Then they can't understand why I just go buy the game second hand at cheaper prices, lol

The haters are definitely off-base, but aren't more than a few of you getting ahead of yourselves endorsing this game as a "masterpiece" as he said in the article? C'mon even if it rivals CoD4 it'll be hard to declare it a masterpiece of gaming.

Wait.. Don't get it twisted. The sdf have BEEN calling this game the Halo Killer.. Don't try and flip it like everyone else has been attacking y'all! The game is about to drop, so let's see.. All I was saying it better do good or people may be looking for work elsewhere, that's all.. And Forreal, putting this against Halo is just pure comedy. Halo is classic, killzone has 1 decent game, and that's on the psp.

All I'm saying is it better live up to y'all hype and sell a sheet load... If not...

Halo is classic

There, not so hard

Defined a system brand, Legendary difficulty known for some of the best AI, one of the most popular console multi-player ever, spawned one of the most successful frachises of all time, still a great playthrough.

Yup, that's classic

Relax homie.. Relax. Y'all getting all heated for nothing.. It's just a GAME.

-that the sdf been hyping for....like...EVER.

-that sony falsified footage at E3.

-that they pushed back because "they wanted it to be tighter", when they really needed more polish, and no competition.

Like I said.. For YALL SAKE, the game BETTER be good!! This is sony's last hurrah in my book.. Sink or swim..

I think it looks solid. I'd like to see/hear more about it and try the demo but it seems a likely buy for me (I only bought one PS3 game last year -LBP). Sony's 1st party stuff is generally great (really liked Uncharted, HS, R&C series, Sly Cooper series, MLB, God Of War)

It is hard to imagine me spending much time on the multiplayer since most of my gaming is on my 360 due to Live and most of my friends being on it. But if it's good I'll naturally migrate to it.

The PSN had been so frustrating tho for me - MLB was unplayable and I had many issues w/LBP so I really don't sign in anymore. Nothing wrong w/my setup either as my 360 and laptop work fine.

Will definitely give it a fair shot tho, as well as MLB 09 which looks great.

And, as an aside, if Gundam and Alien Lord stopped being jerks or stopped posting here it would make the site much more enjoyable. Not trying to be confrontational but their nonsense is really boring.

Aww poor cry baby...go cry in that little corner over there.

Sorry that you can't handle the truth sony fanboy. This game is full of hype like the first one and sony is full of shit in it's attempts to make it seem like it's even on the same scale as Halo or Gears of War.

Bottom line is that this game will have a minimal impact on sales of the ps3.

You're seriously a stupid fucker, man. Rather than using actual footage of the game or hands on against it, you use anecdotal and 'evidence' that's about as shallow as your console warrior mentality.

Game looks polished. Game has had great previews so far. The hype isn't unfounded, because unlike games like the original Killzone and Haze, this hype is backed up by people who have actually had time with the game and say it's a great, polished title.

In other words, you're constantly trying to tell us that shit'll suck groundlessly, and whining back whenever we back up why we think it'll be good.

You know what the really pathetic thing is? If this were on the 360, you'd be singing it's praises right now.

You're the worst kind of gamer.

Oh, and, uh, if you honestly think that this game won't impact the PS3 sales-wise, you're just plain dumb. Have fun sitting there in denial; while we're playing and enjoying games from all sides, you can come here and bitch about games that you'll say are bad despite the fact that you've never/will never play them because for some reason this anti-FacelessCorporation mentality grips your entire being.

Hey asswipe - did you notice the part where I said that I've only bought one PS3 game, the most of my gaming is done on my 360, and that I stopped using the PSN? And I'm a Sony fanboy?

That's exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned your dumb shit. Do you have any idea what an ignorant tool you sound like?

Anyway, that's enough time wasted on that loser.

As someone else said, I too have been gaming long enough to at least get a very good sense of a game's quality from watching gameplay and listening to people playing and everything seems to line up. Of course you can't speak to things like AI, pacing, variet etc but I've seen/heard enough to be looking forward to it.

And after playing Uncharted, Uncharted 2 is a definite launch buy - Naughty Dog knows their shit - I wish Insomniac and Naught Dog would go multi (Resistance on Live would be sooo good) but I know that is unlikely.
