Despite having few ultra-violent titles in its library (most notably Manhunt 2 and No More Heroes), the Wii can't seem to shake its "kiddie" moniker. MadWorld producer Atsushi Inaba hopes to change that, telling play.tm, "It would be great if MadWorld can really kick off [a trend of mature titles]." He also opined that the console's hardware capacity is not a problem so long as you can "correctly communicate the concept or features of the game." Seeing as we're able to envision waggling the remote and producing lots of virtual blood, we think he might be onto something.
Inaba also said that they're (gasp!) considering a sequel should the game be successful. If that's not enough of a non-surprise for you, he reminds us that there will be minigames -- known here as "Blood Bath Challenges." This is a Wii title, after all.

I wish they'd show more of the damn game. They want to keep me excited for this? At least throw up a video or two every month... it's kind of hard to go to the store, see a game that you've only seen two or three vids of... and pick that over other AAA titles released at the same time that you've seen more of.
How come Wii developers don't get this whole 'marketing' and 'hype' thing?

Killzone 2 also comes out in a few weeks.
I've seen a lot of gameplay footage and dev interviews.
I've seen three MadWorld gameplay vids and one half-assed dev interview from the early stages of the game.
In other words, guess which one is more likely to get my money? I still think Mad World is gonna be freaking awesome, and I may or may not come out of beating the game with a more memorable experience than Killzone may deliver, but I'm still gonna be buying Killzone first, because I actually know what I'm getting there.

Fatass,
Problem is, this is typical Clover, despite the fact that their projects are made by famous people on the gaming industry and are often revolutionary, there has never been that much advertisement for their games, hell, the best campaign must have been for Viewtiful Joe, but even then, it was average at best (the campaign! I love the game!)
Now that this title is being published by Sega, I find it less likely for MadWorld to have a good ad campaign, sad but true

To Sega's credit, they're probably second only to Ubisoft when it comes to promoting their games and getting the word out to people on them. They have a good sense for a pulse of what works and what doesn't.
That doesn't mean they'll do it for MadWorld (hell, they let Valkyria Chronicles flop something fierce), but as far as companies go, Sega is a good fit for MadWorld.
Of course, they could also puss out on promoting it, like Ubisoft did with No More Heroes for fear of a media shitstorm. Just one more reason to hate Ubisoft, though.

that's the thing Fatass, Sega does advertise, but they only push the crappy games...instead of their quality titles...
At least on my area (Broward,FL) I never even saw a single add for Virtua Fighter, Valkyrie Chronicles, or even Sega Rally Revo, instead I've seen ads for their Beijing Olympics, Mario & Sonic, and Samba de Amigo games....

2009 has a ton of wii games for older gamers and """"hardcore"""" gamers. Im looking forward to seeing more of TMNT. I hope that it is surpasses SSBB as a deep online brawler.

Yeah 2009 is looking great for the Wii:
Mad World
The Conduit
Tenchu IV
Pikmin 1&2 remakes
Prime 1&2 remakes
Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution 2
Sadness
Wii Sports Resort
Fatal Frame IV
Red Steel 2
FF:CC The Crystal Bearers
Fragile
Monster Hunter 3
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
No More Heroes: 2
Guitar Hero: Metallica
Deadly Creatures
Some of those may not be considered 'mature' (i'm looking at you Pikmin) but that doesn't take away from the fact that every game there is of great quality. Mad World, Pikmin Remakes, Wii Sports Resort, The Conduit and GH:Metallica are the 6 i refuse to miss out on and i'll have to see how far my gaming budget stretches to allow for more with Dawn of War 2 and possibly Starcraft 2 coming out too. And i was considering a 360 :( The 360 will have to wait i think.

There are many more games that wasn't mentioned on your gigantic list, and many unannounced games.
I'm on the fence about Deadly Creatures. It looks interesting, but the 2 videos I watched seemed boring. Can't wait for conduit! ^^

"Should have added that i'll buy Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution 2 immediatly when it gets a local release. Such a quality fighting series."
lolno
I've played the import, shit's too much like the first one, and the first one wasn't all that good to begin with.
and list wars shouldn't be used, bro. if you must, save it as a reaction or something, if you don't it just comes off as you actively trying to justify your purchase (as if you need to, but you know what I'm saying)

Actually ivory, i love the first Clash of Ninja Revolution and played it a lot. It's a little unbalanced, but when my brother-in-law comes over, its easily the main game we play. We're both mad keen for the sequal. I'll be selling or trading the original to get it. It doesnt bother me too much if its very similar to the original, im just keen for combination special attacks and lots more playable characters.
As for my list, it was in reaction to Gun Barriers first comment, justifying his comment.

House of the Dead: Overkill ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKUD2sLE5rM )
Overlord: Dark Legacy (Overlord Jr.)
Tenchu: Shadow Assassins (made by the original Tenchu team)
Kizuna (Shadow of the Colossus Wii)
Muramasa: the Demon Blade
A bunch of JRPGs of varying levels of maturity,
-Arc Rise Fantasia
-Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga
-Phantom Brave Wii
-on and on, I'm not sure how many of them will actually come to the US

Violent != mature.
Thies game looks intersting and fun, but it doesn't look particularly mature or deep.

Thats not to say i don't like this game. But frankly i don't feel that the games on other consoles are much more "mature". Just more violent and more hardcore.
I think a lot of the software on the wii is perfect for it's target audience... I just wish there were a few more games that were targeted at me.
Something like Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, Beyond good and evil or Farenheit.
Oh wait, none of those games were violent...

If you haven't bought it already: get Zack & Wiki, one of the best adventure games to come out since Grim Fandango. :)

The "kiddie" label has more to do in regards of the difference between the 360/PS3's library to the Wii's
but because something has the imaginary "kiddie" label it doesn't mean that it can't be used by adults...
Hell, Lego's are considered for kids, yet many adults use them now and then

Bloodbath Challenges sound like some cool minigames; a lot cooler than cutting grass and pumping gas.
No More Heroes was not a "mature"game despite it's rating. It's what a prepubescent child thinks "mature" games are before they get a chance to play a good one.
I hope Mad World is good but I'm definitely renting first. Learned my lesson.

I'm sorry, but MadWorld is not a game for "Mature" audiences. It's supposedly intended for age-groups that are legally "mature", but based on the preview content they've released, it's clear that the game appeals mainly to an adolescent mind-set. I'm not saying that the subject material isn't best suited for a mentally mature person, and I'm not saying that a mature gamer's taste can't encompass ultra-violence and stylized blood and gore if that's their preference. But come on, Platinum, don't say you want to start a trend of mature titles on the Wii when it's so obvious that your game is targeted at 13-17 year olds.
