Your guess as good as ours: BlowOut coming to Xbox Originals

Word comes by way of Gamerscore Blog that BlowOut will join the ranks of Xbox Originals, as of January 19th, for 1200

($15). Reaction to the news was swift and sure in the site's comments section, with gems like:

"F*ck off with the sh*t we've never heard of. Get some half decent games on there already."
"When the f*ck did this come out. How about KOTOR either of them, or any other of the top selling title from the original Xbox. What is Microsoft paying you people for."
"Ugh, I wish I could remember the right command. > kill proc PR_Bot."

Uh-huh, that just about sums it up. Seriously, how many people actually remember this game, or would pay $15 for it? If there was ever any question about the Xbox Originals system being misguided over the last few updates, we fear the answer is quite clear now.

ummm...this game was $10 when it came out on xbox...so now we pay $5 more????

This game is pretty rad but its not worth 15 bucks.

What? I'm not crazy, check the picture. That's exactly what that monster in the background is. Thats worth $15 any day. I can't wait to see the excremental finisher of that boss monster.

Apparently it was 10 dollars for PS2 when it came out, but 20 for XBOX, so it is cheaper than it was when it was released. The game looks kinda cool, but if you are going to release something that was a budget title when it came out originally, then make it a budget Originals title. At least 800 points and people would be more likely to give it a look. I will not at 1200 points though, thats absurd.

It's backwards compatible if you can find the actual game somewhere. PAL version crashes after the 2nd/3rd level or something though >_>

Here with xbox originals, microsoft has a great opportunity to release the great games of the original xbox, but they completely ignore the ones that are worth buying. Conker, Live and Reloaded anyone?

Nintendo does the same thing with Virtual Console. They've ignored the obvious games that everyone wants to replay but keep releasing crap that no one's gonna get excited about. What about original smash bros? Or maybe even some Mario Party 2?

I know right? No Pilotwings,Super Mario Kart, Punch Out!!, Star Fox? (all SNES) Where the hell are they?

sony and square knows it would a success, but for some reason they are holding on to it like nintendo and ms are doing.

Bushido Blade please!

Has anyone had the chance to check out the Japanese PSN store? Over the xmas break my friend showed me on his Japanese account. They've got literally hundreds of original playstation titles. Good ones, too. Bushido Blade is there along with many other classics.

I'd really rather not go the whole fake Japanese account route and it would really help if they opened up the faucet a bit on those PS1 games.

I figure they're saving them for a rainy day. But that doesn't excuse Sony from not releasing more PS1 games...they're just being dicks about it. VC still has of a ton of great classics, but i think they're way overpriced.

And i've said it before, Sega needs to start pumping out the dreamcast classics for PS3 and 360. There's more than enough power availible there to emulate them.

And on a final note. F*ck this piece of sh*t. C*ckB*lls.

I think it's because they want to see their options with the games. Like nintendo added pic mode to Pokemon snap, or klonoa is being remade on the wii. Banjo kazooie was held off for Nuts and bolts... Maybe they are just waiting for the right moment to strike.

What are you talking about? Nintendo has been releasing some pretty good things on the VC lately. Castlevania 3? Mario RPG? and Punch Out is out already.
I just wish they'd bring something decent to the Xbox originals. Jade Empire anyone?

Only PoP: Sands of Time would be eligible for Xbox classics. The other two games and Beyond Good & Evil are not backwards compatible. With Microsoft no longer updating their emulating software, don't hold your breath.

Where is Panzer Dragoon Orta, JSRF, KOTOR, etc? I would buy any of those.

I know right? And they have prequels to games (such as Halo 2, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Mercenaries, Prince of Persia, etc).

Plus, games like Star Wars Battlefront are still big on LIVE. They could add more traffic to those games by making them available.

Instead we get literal leftover garbage.

I've never even heard of this game. Judging by the cover art, is it a really shitty FMV game from the early 90s?

2d side scroller if I remember correctly. It's big hook back in the day was that it was $9.99 which worked, that's how I ended up with it.

Maybe they did it just to read the funny blog posts about it.

I actually kind of liked Blowout. But I know I am a little weird.

But you know guys, they have explained this a million times -- Originals are just like the backwards compat games -- they either work or they don't. And the rules are probably tighter for Xbox Originals since they are asking for $$ for them. A back compat game you already own might be acceptable even with problems, but for something they charge for, the games need to really work right. And no one is going to bother cracking open old code for a dead game just to make it work in emulation on the 360.

That's a good point. The KotOR games *work* but there's a lot of sound errors and frame rate problems. I don't think they'd get away with releasing a game in that kind of condition.

Well Fable has the occasional sound errors when using backwards compatibility. So it's not like the games have to work 100%.

I've never heard of this game, but the premise sounds kind of fresh: "[Y]ou're in charge of a platoon of mercenaries...outfitted with experimental weaponry...Lead your team into a space station that has been overrun by mutated alien parasites."

Assuming you want to do this on windows, the command would be:

BlowOut your ass, even for 1 dollar... If there was no such thing as Joystiq, and i was at home scrolling through. The game title would look like *bluuuur* the way i would pass it so quickly, from the 8th grade cover art.

Seriously, how do they choose these games? The initial wave was a good selection. I've been thinking about getting Black since I missed it first time around, but these choices as of late are lame.

I don't know why but the guy on the cover looks like Chuck D to me.

Perhaps a wise game choice would be one that SOLD the first time round.
You can get this game for < $4 on ebay so why the fuck would I buy it for $15.

Will the game run off a disc on a 360, or is the downloadable title the only version that will run?

For many of the top-tier 3rd party titles for the 360, MS would probably need permission from the parties in question. Those shouting for Panzer and KOTOR should, perhaps, bitch to SEGA and LucasArts, respectively

At least, i wouldn't imagine Microsoft would have enough control over those titles to re-release them in a different format without a renewal of consent from the owners
