Rumor: EA may be sticking to Glu, Mobile that is
Electronic Arts could be looking to increase its stake in the mobile market by eating paste. A new report suggests that the company may be mulling over the acquisition of Glu Mobile, currently the third largest mobile game publisher and developer behind EA Mobile and Gameloft. Financial site Seeking Alpha cites a recent bevy of rumors regarding EA's growing interest in the Asian mobile market, followed by Glu's bolstered stock price as key indicators of a possible buyout.
The move, if it happens, would certainly underscore EA's commitment to the mobile platform and games. We're just not sure if the world is ready for Diner Dash 2009.

Ugly ass phone.

I for one, prefer function over form. Playing Quake III on the loo = awesome.

Really? Because I have that phone, in fact, I have it in front of me right now, and it is fucking sexy. Everyone that sees me with it says it looks slick. The reason it may look ugly is because of the disproportions in that photo, but the Nokia N95 8GB is sexy, can do a lot of features. It is by far one of the greatest smartphones if you ask me. I love it.

Now, this is my realm of expertise. If EA's serious about continuing to expand their Mobile "division" an acquisition of Glu would be huge. Next to Gameloft, they're the top mobile publisher out there. Since EA already owns JAMDAT, this would begin their monopoly of the top tier Western mobile publishers.

I don't think a monopoly over the mobile division would be a bad thing... It sucks that they are trying to take over the console market because they they limit creativity by only providing games that are "safe."
Where as in the mobile market, any game that works well is a good game. EA can provide that. They have the financial backing and experience.

Oh, I don't think it's a good thing. I just think it's going to be their strategy.

Mobile games are a waste of time.

If EA publishes some games for Ubisoft on this platform could we say:
'Ubisoft sends its horsez to the glu factory'?
