It's not just a rumor anymore, metal-heads. The official release date for Guitar Hero: Metallica has been announced. The game will be launching in North America on March 29 and will release in other regions sometime in May. So, start preparing your fingers for the inevitable calluses and start drinking all the Red Bull you can stomach, because Guitar Hero: Metallica is going to be hard. With 28 Mettalica tracks and plenty of guest artists, it's not a game for lightweights. No, you'll need to be a serious fake musician if you want to hang with the big boys. What you do with your fake groupies, well, that's up to you.

Screw Metallica! I've hated them since the Napster ordeal, Wahh i don't have enuff money, free music is taking money from my loaded poskets! Sellouts.

I wouldn't call them sellouts (anymore). And at least they're back to making good music. Death Magnetic is a HUGE step up from St. Anger.
They're embracing the digital age now. Death Magnetic came out for Guitar Hero III, and it works With World Tour and this game.
Anyway, I do want this game, but it just barely seems worth it. I'll need to see the final track list. But, The Sword is confirmed, so that's a big plus. As long as it works with all my Rock Band gear, which I imagine it does, I'll probably buy it. Even if Rock Band is way better, in my opinion.

I know the Lips Microphones don't work in World Tour, would be nice to see support for them working in all Xbox 360 singing games in the future.
On a side note, the Scene it Remotes would be great to play some Arcade Titles (which isn't allowed either)

Assuming it's the same as Guitar Hero: World Tour, everything with will work with anything, although I'm not quite sure how Rock Revolution fits in there. But, who cares? Here is the chart that Joystiq made up to help people with this issue: http://www.joystiq.com/Instrument-Compatibility-Matrix/#Xbox360
Also, in response to mrMontes, the Lips microphones do not currently work with other games, though Microsoft and MTV Games issued a statement saying they will work with Rock Band 2 at some point in the future.

I'm guessing the sales won't be hurt too much by releasing a few days after the new Pokemon game.

anyone know if this game will be guitar only or if it will support all the instruments?

Tony, this is a full band game. It even will have "Expert+" for the drums which will involve owning two kick pedals.

45 songs total and only 28 are actual Metallica tracks?! World Tour has 86 songs! Unless the game is $40 or under, no thanks.

This game is going to rock hard if the Expert drumming is handled right. I want to pound out some black and death metal blast beats with those double bass pedals.

Isn't this enough already? No matter who the band is?
This is like the Need For Speed series... it NEEDS a break.
