They're really hurting sales of this by putting the Wii version out later. Especially since GH3 and WT sold best on Wii.

I love having these discs plus the DLC. You can amass a HUGE library of music to play with these instruments. We have what,4 Guitar Hero games,GH Aerosmith,Metallica,and 2 Rock Band games.

Pure win for people who are fans of this genre. The more songs the better.

I find it so funny how the internet despises Guitar Hero so much...(yet most of the world prefers it...check sales). It's always "cool" to hate popular things on the internets...

All the fanboy corporation dickriding aside...I do think the DLC in general is a cool concept and consumer friendly, but I also think the "band games" are cool as well...since they redesign the UI to fit the band as I'm sure GH:Metallica is going to be really metal while GH:WT is not...they'll also have the actual avatars of the band. If I was a fan of Metallica music (which I'm not) I would be all over this...personally I think it would suck if they only offered my favorite band as DLC so I have to look at the cheesey avatars they have in game instead of the actual band. I love playing Jimi Hendrix songs AS JIMI in GH:WT...but thats just me...to each his own. But don't shit on the game just because its not your preference.

From a business perspective...both companies make little to no money on DLC!!! After publishing/licensing and production cost there isn't much money to fight over...since the AC/DC pack on RB doesn't give you anything in game that is AC/DC themed ( I dont think) expect the songs, they can charge a cheaper price, this Metallica game is a whole new experience, now its up to you as a consumer if that "experience is worth the money to you....

just my level headed 2 cents...

Not sure about you but when I play rock band I'm not fixated on looking at the little dudes dance, I'm fixated on hitting the notes. I'm sure a large majority of gamers would rather just have an awesome Metallica song pack for $30 than a metallica song pack for $60 but with Metallica avatars.

But whatever. And for your first comment, if you pay attention to a majority of gaming review sites they all seem to enjoy Rock Band 2 more so than GH:WT. It's simply more polished and the DLC is a lot better of a deal.

1. They make plenty of money on DLC, to think otherwise is absurd. Licensing costs are fixed, you can do the math easily enough.

2. this is not a "new experience" it's GH: Aerosmith, with Metallica. While I "think" it will sell better because Metallica's music is better for the hardcore crowd of these games, I wouldn't be surprised to see it be similar financial flop.

3. For every person who likes playing as the band, there is one who doesn't and five more who simply don't care because they're focused on playing the game. The only people who notice what's actually going on in the background are people who aren't playing.

@Nadril
I would agree that RB is more polished as far as UI goes. Personally I think the lighting of the sets in GH:WT are top notch though.

And I also DO love having the actually artist in game...I think it adds to the immersion. For most songs, yeah DLC would suffice...but for my favorite artist or bands I would pay the $60 a year for a game geared solely for them. Nobody is MAKING anyone buy this game...if GH:WT or RB2 is fine enough for you then by all mines do buy this...but it is cool to have that option. I just think the internet can be so whiny about things especially if its popular...ala Halo, GTA, Mario, and everything else that gains mass appeal.

Don't get me wrong...I think both games have its pros and cons and its all personal preference IMO, but GH sells 2 to 3 times more than RB so obviously they are doing something right...

Having name recognition built up from someone else's hard work helped Neversoft far more than anything they did with GH3 or GH:WT.

It has Mastodon in it. There shouldn't be a discussion of whether or not you're getting it. Sooner or later, lungs will be split.

If I couldn't pirate these games on my Wii, I'd probably never play them.
