Jim,

I should have specified, premeditated murder. And no, I don't think getting to live ones life out in a cell, while your victim is dead, and the victims family forever grieving, is worse then the death penalty.

As for showing myself "better then the murderer" by keeping them alive in a cell, I feel no obligation to prove anything to one of that ilk.

Lastly, I have 5 children, and I do know what unconditional love is. Nevertheless, were one of my children to commit a premeditated murder, while I would not like nor approve of that action, nor defend him/her, and I couldn't kill my own child, I do feel that as a debt to society and that victims family, they should have to pay the ultimate price. It's no different were I go murder someone in cold blood; or in this case over a video game.

I dont think the game caused a "health problem", I think he had the problem to begin with along him being a kid (though he doesnt look like one) and probably not yet having proper reasoning skills,

I think that he could tell the difference between the world of halo and the real world, because after he shot his parents he put the gun in his father's had and tried to make it look like a murder suicide!

My six year old understands what death is, and she also knows the difference between a game and real life. This is one more mark against video games in general, and once more empowers their degenerative affects on youth for the unkowing, non gaming public.

Life in prison is good, true punishment comes the day he realizes what he has truly lost through is actions. I would hate to be him on any day, but especialy that day.

After reading these comments, I have lost faith in the majority of humanity. The legal systems in ALL countries are flawed. There is no country that has a flawless judgment. Why? IT's a judgment! No matter how someone is tried they are still judged by somone or some people. So to whoever said their country was some sort of utopia I said, wake up and look out of ur safe and warm suburb home and see how the world really is.

To the human race, I saw have a person taken from you over something as insignificant as a game. Then come to me and tell me that you want them to be rehabilitated and released back into the community to possible make a great life for themselves.

Oh and to the one person that said they feel they are better than the murder if they don't send them to death, feeling higher or better than him doesn't mean shit to him and if he wants to he/she WILL murder again.

There is time for compassion and there is time for punishment. I have a son and I know this is true. Just because he is younger than 21 doesn't mean everything he does is chocked up to "Being a child". He hits someone else with a bat NOT accidental...he gets punished. Compassion is not an issue. He gets an APPROPRIATE punishment. He does it by accident, he get punished with COMPASSION. SEE THE DIFFERENCE? I know most of you that praise rehabilitation to those that don't want to rehabilitate will see this as bull. But hey it's life and you probably havn't had to go through something like this, and I feel sorry for the lives you inadvertantly kill because of your thoughts.

Just so everyone knows, in our law system a life sentence is only 40 years, and doesn't actually continue for the extent of his life. That being said, I feel terrible for the family and don't feel it's my job to lay blame anywhere except with the kid.

When is enough enough? We see stories like this EVERY day. People killing other people over little things. No matter the circumstances, there are the folks who come out of the woodwork to DEFEND these people! They didn't get hugged enough, video games did it,blah blah blah. I for one believe in the death penalty and that it needs to be used more. The problem is from all these "life is precious" fools. Does any serial killer DESERVE a second chance? Does a child rapist? I challenge you to forgive these types of people if they do it to your family

To me, it wouldn't matter if this kid was 12 or even 11. He's old enough to know the difference between life and death, and he should be punished accordingly. People who say that because he was a minor he should be punished like one are stupid. Why don't you ask what his mother would think, OH WAIT, you can't, because her kid put a bullet in her. Now, i think that is deserving of the death penalty. The death penalty is underused. Take for example a child rapist. That person has traumatized a kid for the rest of his/her life. The rapist will only get 30-40 years in prison while the kid will get around 60-70 years of having to live with the fact that when they were a child they were violated by someone. Our legal system is seriously flawed if this kid doesn't get the death penalty.
