Reuters: Final Fantasy XIII coming to Japan 2009, overseas after April 2010

I thought the battle system of XII was fine, and actually fun in the way that programming can be fun. But the one huge issue that I very rarely see people talk about is the extremely long, repetitive dungeons that all looked alike (stone tunnels, tunnels, tunnels, ad infinitum). The Pharos tower anyone? Jesus fucking Christ, I almost quit the game at that point (and at several other points in the game too), and I've never considered quitting any FF game before.

It was one of the main reasons the storyline sucked, too, because very little actually happened to your party (the most important things happened in cutscenes taking place far away) who were instead occupied on oldschool fetch quest after fetch quest for stones and swords in previously mentioned endless stone dungeons.

Why the hell do people seem to put up with this bullshit so well? The grinding required at every single step you take, as well. Is it because they have been desensitized by mindnumbing crap like MMO's?


Also, I was extremely disappointed that none of the towns really had any proper houses to explore and ransack (which is always one of the most fun things in any FF), aside from the single one item store in each town that they copypasted six times and called it different things. What the fuck was up with that? :(

I didn't seriously believe it, but I allowed myself to dream and hope...

I'm a little shocked that there are people who are geniunely disappointed about this news. I can't wait for the game, but I haven't thought for one second that it'll be out this year.

Plus do we know if it's region locked or not? It probably isn't although I'm not sure about that.

However that doesn't even matter. The point is that only the devoted gamers would import it for their ps3. Your average run of the mill holier than thou sony fanboy will probably wait for it be released in NA in April of 2010 which does hurt the lineup for 2009.

Last but not least again even if an American imported it from Japan how many of them even understand Japanese? Not that many most likely...

Oh, and before you claim that Sony have nothing less to announce for this year, as they always announced things far in advance: last year they announced

and all three games released in the same year.

(Compare that to Microsoft, who only announced one game - Gears 2 - that released in the same year.)

Of course, what's going to happen is this.

When big name games do come out for the PS3, and get high ratings, Gundam is going to whine about it, claiming the games don't deserve the ratings despite the fact that he'll likely not have played them. And this, simply because they're on the 360. He's just that kind o' troll.

I guarantee that'll happen with Killzone 2 (if it does get good ratings, that is... it certainly looks like it will, and if the hands on reports are any indication, it sounds like it plays like at the very least an 8/10 game).

Is it really all that hard to just, you know, want fellow gamers to have fun with their games? You're the first person I've seen on this website who actually says that people who own another system don't deserve shit... a selfish and idiotic thought to have.

The others are all fluff. Uncharted 2 isn't going to sell ps3s. it will sell well but that's a given seeing as how there's hardly any games for the ps3.

We aren't talking about games that'll sell systems here (and plus, you tried to say that K2 won't sell systems... you've got no credibility there - the series may not have much of a fanbase but K2 has been able to make it's existence known), we're talking about quality games. I know that you're apt to bashing games that you've not played before (and something tells me you haven't played Resistance 2 or Uncharted), but 2008 was a great year for the PS3 (and the 360), and 2009 will be another great year for the PS3.

#1 - I haven't seen ANY Sony fanboys comparing Kodu to LBP, and the ones that do are just as stupid as you are. In fact, every Sony fanboy I've seen tried to make it clear from the onset that Kodu will be nothing like LBP.

Why is Kodu a bunch of crap? It looks pretty interesting to me - you may not be interested in making a game, seeing an idea of yours realized in a way that allows others to view and experience your image, but plenty of others are - to me, you seem like someone who misses the point of things like Kodu or LBP entirely.
