Burnout: Ultimate Box dated, exclusive to PC in North America

Also included will be a pass-the-pad multiplayer mode, promising dozens of "quick-fire, turn-based challenges" for up to eight players. This mode will also be released to console drivers as a premium (read: not free) "Party" pack, adding new Achievements and Trophies to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions when the DLC rolls out in both North America and Europe on February 5.
Both Amazon and GameStop list the PC bundle for $40, though no official pricing for the DLC nor "Ultimate Box" edition have yet been announced.

Just get it imported from the UK. The pound is now so weak that games here are actually cheaper than in the US.

Yes. Retry will be included in a free patch when the expansion comes out.

Yes, restarts are included so all you whiners can stop complaining. They are unnecessary anyway as another event is never more than an intersection away, but whatever.

Yes it will have retry. The only reason I haven't bought Burnout paradise after renting is because of lack of retry option. And yea, some of you might be like "But you can just go to the next event". Or "But that'll cause load times"
I say bullshit. If I lost a race 10 seconds before the finish line because I was to busy looking at the microscopic map, all I want to do is retry it and avoid doing that mistake again. And yes there are challenges all over the place but most the time I have a race type car and if I want to go be good at a stunt challenge I would have to go back to my garage and change my car.
"But driving around and exploring is what the game is all about." Not everyone has the time to drive around the fucking city trying to find a race challenge.
I would rather wait 5-6 secs watching a load screen than to drive all the way back to the starting point of a race.

That's the interface for the pass-the-pad Party Mode. The interface is less "fruity" (as you put it) normally.

I like it, I hope it's an option during normal play. Regular interface just seems "BOOM, in yo face sukka." Though, I guess that is kind of the point of this *awesome* game.

I actually plan on getting this. I Gameflied BP when it first game out. I'd like to support a developer that dedicates an entire year to supporting their product with free DLC.

Finally! This game dropped off the face of the earth after it was announced for PC. Pretty psyched about it, had so much fun with Burnout 3 for xbox.

I used to love the firts Burnout game on the Gamecube. Played it for hours on end. Did anyone else stick with the series from the start? Are the recent Burnout games anything like the first one?
And what would you recommend to a Burnout 1 fan, Revenge or Paradise?

Paradise is great in it's own right, but simply saying it's not a Burnout game.

Yeah, those bastards! How DARE they release the Ultimate Box on PC only for $40 when you could buy the 360 version for $20 and probably spend $10 on the DLC, saving $10, or the PS3 version for $30 + DLC for a total of $40!
How fucking DARE they make this game available to an even wider audience!

I won't be getting this because of the inane game mechanics that I think Criterion has implemented in Burnout.
The fact that I cannot Warp to a race I want to run from the in-game map, or I cannot Retry a race really kills any enjoyment I get out of actually racing in the game.
If I spend two minutes racing, I spend 10 minutes trying to get to the next race, or worse getting back to the starting point of the race I just lost.
This mechanic doesn't encourage exploring, it is just an exercise in tedium, and it is a mechanic that I understand Criterion is dead set against changing.
NFS Undercover does it so much better. You want to explore to discover shortcuts and hidden trophies etc. then you are free to do that. You want to go directly to a specific race? Then bring up the mini map click on the race you want and there you are. Simple, quick and user friendly.

omg i can believe you whingers. Everyone who didnt buy this game because of minor complaints is a fool.
If you need to restart races so much maybe you should learn how to play the game properly and also learn how to press that back button ( pauses race so you can check map duhhhh)
If you cant handle this game without restarts i can even imagine how bad you would be at a racing sim. Probably smash into every corner? I lost about 3 events on the way to elite, one was a road rage that my car got wrecked.
2 hours to find an event? are you serious, i went from start to elite in 2-3 days and racing games are not my forte. It takes me about 2 secs to find an event they are at every intersection ffs!
Every complaint ive heard about this game is stupid and no one ever says anything about the real problems like traffic spawning on your bonnet.
People who say this is not a burnout game should try actually playing it. They will find that this is a burnout game, a great one if not the best and has all the burnout hallmarks except a true crash mode.
Funny how everyone who gets good at this game loves it, while everyone who cant go one street without wrecking says its no good, blaming the open world or lack of restart rather than their own lack of skill/patience. Maybe in the next burnout there will be a " hold x button to win race" option so all the A.d>d kids will love the game too.
Most ppl suck at this game until they learn the map and how to dodge the traffic, seems most people have too much a.d.d. to even learn a small map.
Honestly just learn the map, pause the race at the start to check which way is best, boost in speed car until you win, repeat until elite.
Anyone halfway decent at racing games will tell you how easy this games offline races are.
