Gears of War 2 serves 4 million in two months

Gears of War 2 continues to sell well, so well that Gears 2 global product manager Guy Welch has given us another sales update. To date, Epic's Gears sequel has sold over 4 million copies worldwide since its release in November 2008. How epic!

Last time we check, Gears 2 just surpassed the 3 million mark, but with December NPD numbers revealing an additional 745K units and other worldwide sales, Marcus and crew are sitting at a comfortable 4 million. In comparison, the original Gears sold "only" 2 million copies during the same period. That's, like, double the sales pace.

For a game that sold that many copies, you'd think it'd be number 1 on Xbox Live.

Maybe they should bundle in a controller with Gears of War 2 to help increase the pace. It works with WiiPlay. ;-)

This would be a great idea if Microsoft knew how to design a D-pad. Oh, and Cliffy is a full on pole-smoker. FIX YOUR GAME BITCH!

Honestly, that's a terrific idea. I don't know why MS/Sony haven't pursued that.

wow I wish I wasn't one of the 4 million cause its like the worst $60 I have spent for a game with so many glitches and a broken multiplayer

then that 4 million would instead be a number that no gamer has ever imagined. except maybe nintendo.

I'm going to make myself unpopular here, but I have to calmly say that I'm not sure what Dustin offers to the podcast. This isn't intended to flame, I like the guy, but when you already know what your GOTY is going to be BEFORE IT'S RELEASED, you lose all credibility in my book. He doesn't have much else to say that's not GOW related, because he doesn't play anything else. He's not even first on the leaderboards, so he's not even coming at it from an "expert" angle. So what's left? I give credibility to gamers who are well rounded.
