The PSP Phone is an urban legend. It never existed, but it's way too good to let go of. So, that brings us back to this story wherein Sony Ericsson allegedly was refused the use of the PlayStation brand name for phones despite the idea being pitched this past December. This is according to MobileToday which has cited "several sources close to the matter."
According to the source article, Sony only plans to license a PlayStation phone if the company plans to make handsets independently from Ericsson. So when's that going to happen and what do we have to do to make it happen?

If they did do this I would want it to also come with a blue tooth headset built into the back like that LG phone. I dont want my precious screen for gaming to be smudged up and such by talking on it.

Title is incorrect. Sony Ericsson hasn't refused anything. Sony Ericsson *has been refused* use of the Playstation brand by Sony. Very big difference there Majed....

A PSPPhone would be cool I would hope they would use the stuff from the Sony Mylo and the Sony Ericsson. So you would have the best of all three. I really digged the way Sony made the Mylo.
It just has not sold well and so this way Sony could use the stuff in the Mylo to may be push Mylo sales if some one seeing what is in the Mylo and does not want a PSP. So to me if all three products could be in the PSPPhone that would be really cool.

I would buy a PSPhone in a second. I use my PSP for everything (games, music, internet, camera, videos) everyday. Adding phone capabilities would be the best. (a built in camera + GPS would be nice too.)

I hope they don't merge the PSP with a phone for the same reasons I would much rather buy the iPod touch than an iPhone.

I'm not a fan either. I would have no issue in it being more mylo like but an actual cell phone...ehh no way. ESPECIALLY if they are going to lock you to one carrier.

This is a big, fat fail for them IMO. If my psp and phone were one and the same, I would get a lot more use out of it then I currently get out of my phone and psp individually put together.
...Does that make sense to anyone else?? :)

I wouldn't have bought it. My phone is tiny, and I like it that way.

Could you imagine breaking that thing out in a bar or a club...
you:"lemme get your number..."
her:"215....*you pull out your PSPhone*...ummm....555-3457"
I'll keep my phone on it's own.

I'd rather keep my phone and handheld gaming device separate. No thanks, Sony.

This was a good call by Sony. Ever try a Walkman phone? They suck, even though standalone Walkmans are really good (although underrated) MP3 players. The Walkman phones just blemish the Walkman brand.
A PSP phone would do the same to the Playstation brand. The last thing Sony needs right now is to give people another reason to balk at the word "Playstation."

I disagree here. Look at the Iphone. Sure some people hate it and won't buy one, but since making a download store for games, Apple has become a leader in downloadable mobile games and software. I believe I read somewhere that they are making the most money of all the providers offering downloadable content right now. Why? Because it's also a phone and people take their cells -everywhere-. This would be a good strategy for them, like how Sony essentially clinched the Blu-ray market from HDDVD by selling PS3's.

I disagree as well. My wife has a walkman phone, and We both love it. She uses it more for an MP3 player than she does the Ipod nano that I got for her a couple years ago.
I hope that the PSP2 ends up being a phone. I take my phone and PSP everywhere, and would love to just take one device. However, for those of you who don't want the PSP phone I would hope they follow the Ipod model and offer a more expensive phone model and a less expensive, stripped down standard model. I'd buy two, a phone model for me and a standard model for my son.
