We're more than willing to give Apple's do-everything-device the benefit of the doubt if they want to try to make it a legitimate gaming platform, but when we hear a story like this, we can't help but develop a few hangups. Yoot Saito, developer of the unsettling/brilliant Seaman, recently wrote a blog post describing the fate of his in-development iPhone game, GABO (a spiritual successor to Seaman, but with a caveman instead of a manfish). That fate is unfortunately grim -- according to Saito, Apple gave the game the axe due to "unpleasant" gameplay.
He also mentions that the game's development staff had considered going to work on Seaman DS before working on GABO. We'd like to know how much money they'd need to follow through with this ambition, as well as the mailing address to where we should send said funds.

It's interesting seeing the thread a few days ago where people could not stop harping on Nintendo for not stepping in and stopping all the shovelware that seems to be weakening the Wii experience.
But when Apple actually does it... Well, the hatebois suddenly lash out.
Interesting, that's all. I agree, when you have fart and zit apps, why not let everything through? But maybe not. Perhaps this is the start of higher standards for software apps.
Or, applying the 'Occam's Razor' theory... Maybe the game just sucked?

Eh, can't really call it. Not much going on, but certainly not worth rejecting. The market could have decided that this sucked, Apple didn't need to.

Can't help but notice you're all assuming Apple has just rejected the game because someone there didn't like it and that they were totally wrong to do it. It's worth pointing out guys, none of us have seen or played the agme, so we have no idea what it is about it that Apple feels is unpleasant enough to reject it. I think it sounds exciting too, but let's take a chill pill until we actually know why it got returned to sender.

Maybe the app approver is a creationist.
The idea of cavemen to those wackos, and so suggesting the world is older than 4000 years, is "unpleasant", i hear.

Apple pulls this shit with a lot more than just their games too.
Interestingly enough, it looks like he's breaking NDA by talking about why the game wasn't allowed in, unless they changed that retarded rule too.
A few months ago, the NDA limited EVERYTHING about development for the iPhone, up to and including any conversation about how to do anything in the SDK.
In order to keep their pristine little store the way they want it, they've pretty much made it as sterile and incapable of originality. Nobody in their right mind is going to devote resources (especially in this economy) for something that MIGHT NOT even be able to get to the market, because of Apple's subjective approval process.
