If you're not easily offended by simulated acts of canine brutality (this is already one of the strangest lead sentences we've ever written), then you may want to check out Mega64's touching tribute to the recently deceased Electronic Gaming Monthly, imbued in a video titled "Metaphors". It's a fairly comprehensive look at the grim business propositions that put the two-decade-old mag in the ground, and it's posted right after the break. It's just like, sitting there, alone. Go keep it company, won't you?

Shaun Elliot posted this a few days ago. It's so sad, and so true. Also sort of a great metaphor, and very subtle

Actually it's not quite true. UGO didn't buy EGM and then kill them, they bought 1up and then Ziff Davis killed EGM. However, they did then fire half the staff, including some of the best writers there. That being said, it was a pretty damn funny video.

Yes. That's exactly it.
The TV in the background also represents how the analog standard is lost in the wave of high definition consoles, a plight brought up before when Banjo Kazooie and Dead Rising had nearly unreadable text.
The off-switched lantern and lights represents the death of the Evan Grant Mondesanto, and how his light will never bask anyone again.
And the house? What can I say, it's a house.

Looking over the Wikipedia article of EGM allowed me to see the list of games that were awarded the prestigious Platinum Award. I see Twilight Princess made the cut?
Honestly, with this magazine going under was anything of value truly lost, or did another corporate cheerleader lose her voice?

Look Bowser, the entire game journalism industry disagrees with your tastes. While you might think that dozens of people losing their jobs is fine because their gaming sensibilities are more.. mainstream.. than yours, for the rest of us who actually like games it's a shame. Plus the staff themselves.

Why do you type like that? By capitalizing every first letter of every word?
I'm not being sarcastic or anything like that; I really want to know.

Yeah, Haggard has it right. I mean, doesn't it take more time to type like that? And it just makes it harder to read.
Like, do you have some kind of keyboard or software that automatically capitalizes the first letter of every word, or do you honestly hold Shift before typing the first letter of every word? Again, I seriously want to know the answer, because people type like that all over the Internet, albeit in relatively small quantities, and I can never figure out why.

Also, I'm kind of surprised mega 64 is still around

You have to remember that EGM was really important for Mega64 back in the day, as EGM put a lot of their skits in DVD's that came with their magazine, which helped get Mega64 a lot more attention. So seeing this magazine go down probably a hit to them.

There was so much they could have tried to do to save the magazine and nothing was really tried. The video is a great metaphor.

This is not just another magazine dying, this ELECTRONIC GAMING MONTHLY! For many years it was the only thing worth reading. I stacked my EGM magazines high. The video was straight up awesome. And spot on.

Great clip!! But I won't be one to miss Egm. I felt a few of the editors/writers were bribed which led to me canceling my suscription I had for years. Suddenly all the games reviewed were good except for games like barbies dog goes to heaven, which of course got bad scores. Some games never got reviewed until you brought it, played it, found out that it was Wack, then after you traded the game back in, the next month Egm does the review. Not cool.
Then again, I will miss the OLD EGM, the magazine that stood for everything great about videogames, not that peice of crap that was the current Egm.

I felt this way when nextgen bit it.
I could care less about EGM, but I guess they could have done it more, uh, humanely.

It's "I couldn't care less." "I could care less about EGM" means that your undying affection for the publication is unchallenged by any previously-conceived notion of passion known to mankind.

The phrase is utter nonsense if you try to logic it out.
It's slang. It's sarcastic. Now get back on topic.
