Mega64 bids farewell to Evan Grant Mondesanto

If you're not easily offended by simulated acts of canine brutality (this is already one of the strangest lead sentences we've ever written), then you may want to check out Mega64's touching tribute to the recently deceased Electronic Gaming Monthly, imbued in a video titled "Metaphors". It's a fairly comprehensive look at the grim business propositions that put the two-decade-old mag in the ground, and it's posted right after the break. It's just like, sitting there, alone. Talk about beating a dead dog...

Yeah, it's sad when a gaming magazine goes out of business, but let's face it, gaming magazines are completely shit, have been for years, and were made completely and utterly useless by the internet ages ago anyway. I didn't even know sensible people still paid for news that they could get for free online, and often about a month earlier...

Yeah but the appeal of magazines is nothing compared to the internet. Once in a while, I get bored when reading Joystiq.

But in magazines there are pictures to hold my attention :D I remember all of the blood in the Gears of War exclusive they got. That was awesome.

Magazines tend to get some exclusive info and previews that the internet doesn't until later. AND EGM was the only magazine that held my attention when reading it because of the extremely high quality of the writing and the structure. Whatever way you look at it, EGM will still be missed so there's no point complaining about people mourning it.

When the shady guy said HUGO DoTCOM I was drinking water. That water proceeded to splash on to everything within a one foot radius of my mouth...including my monitor.

...totally worth it.
