Flower to bloom on PSN February 12
Thatgamecompany's not-quite-a-game-but-an-interactive-poem Flower finally has a virtual shelf date. According to TGC president Kellee Santiago, we should expect to see it germinate sprout up on the US and European PSN stores February 12th.
Our friends at PS3 Fanboy recently got some hands-on time with a preview build and came away impressed, just as we did at E3. No word yet on price, unfortunately. Check out new gameplay footage after the break.

Ooh ooh ooh, my favorite game genre: Interactive Poems!
...
copa @ Jan 19th 2009 1:41PM
I love it when people create something different and interesting in this medium. I'd be more interested in trying an interactive poem right now than another first-person shooter.
Mike @ Jan 19th 2009 1:49PM
Definitely, me too.
Mike @ Jan 19th 2009 1:31PM
Speculation: That logo style and animation is ripping off tampon/maxi pad commercials all over the world.
el serpiente @ Jan 19th 2009 1:42PM
Big fan of maxi pad commercials, eh?
Mike @ Jan 19th 2009 1:49PM
They're ok, I guess.
SimbaDogg @ Jan 19th 2009 8:34PM
hahahaha, dude i love all your low ranked comments. its like everything you post is prefixed w/ "i'm a huge DB, please lowrank me"
Mike @ Jan 19th 2009 10:57PM
I know! I've had an awesome day.
ittybittygirl @ Jan 19th 2009 1:34PM
Game looks and sounds really promising, I can't wait to check it out.
If and when thatgamecompany ever decide to create a retail game, I'll be the first in line. They are such a talented bunch, would love to see their game design philosophy in full force.
Dr Jeckyl and Mr ESC. @ Jan 19th 2009 1:36PM
Thank you Ps3 for reminding me of my allergies, Achoo ,achoo.
=Curve= @ Jan 19th 2009 1:49PM
Even if I don't understand the game, it certainly looks beautiful.
I think I'll be checking this one out.
Haggard @ Jan 19th 2009 4:15PM
It's basically like Katamari crossed with a flight game. You fly around collecting petals which makes your windy-petal ball larger, presumably until you've got a certain percentage or some other factor.
Of course, the environment's interactive and it has a procedurally generated soundtrack too (if i remember right).
It looks good but I'm not willing to spend too much on something that will probably be quite a brief distraction.
Kryptinite @ Jan 19th 2009 1:49PM
This game is fun times. Trust me.
...I'm from the internet :)
Josh @ Jan 19th 2009 1:52PM
I need a demo for this game. Videos don't seem to really convey what's fun about it, though it definitely *looks* nice.
Sora @ Jan 19th 2009 2:13PM
*insert my usual "Why not for PSP?!" comments here*
Brett from Atlanta @ Jan 19th 2009 2:18PM
because psp doesn't have six axis controls...
j.howlett @ Jan 19th 2009 2:53PM
looks nice
Deck @ Jan 19th 2009 2:53PM
Remember seeing this on the now dead 1UP Show numerous weeks back. It looked really interesting and so unique. Hard to explain it but it was so different, but looks like it will be a lot of fun.
hplcman @ Jan 19th 2009 3:00PM
Dood. flOw was a pretty awesome game. This looks pretty awesome too!!
arrrgh @ Jan 19th 2009 3:07PM
totally
i really enjoyed flOw...will definitely look into this one
Shagittarius @ Jan 19th 2009 3:15PM
Just what we need another shooter.
Strategy_Panda (The Sandwich Poisoning Crew) @ Jan 19th 2009 3:19PM
I was wondering when this was going to be released. I hope it comes in at $15.00 or less
Lee @ Jan 19th 2009 3:21PM
Now I don't think the answer to all these generic FPS games is something so lacking in gameplay and "poetic".
It's akin to picking between heart disease and cancer.
I'd rather they make something good to play than something like this. I don't give 2 craps if its "different" to other games. Different does not mean better. Look what they did to Portrait of Ruin for christs sake.
el serpiente @ Jan 19th 2009 3:30PM
You gots to chill.
zuburi @ Jan 19th 2009 7:32PM
So FPS vs Flower is like heart disease vs cancer.
I hate you, internet.
Diskoboy7 @ Jan 19th 2009 4:02PM
Looks like Rez for tree huggers.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Jan 19th 2009 6:27PM
Those aren't trees, those are flowers.
Leo McKelvin @ Jan 19th 2009 4:51PM
Outside of first party titles you will see the major creative ps3 titles on PSN because the development cost are not as major.
ill trooper @ Jan 19th 2009 5:27PM
Fucking weird, crop-circle-filling traveling pollen troupe game.
Of course I'm going to buy it!
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Jan 19th 2009 6:24PM
I might be close-minded for not being able to see the fun in games which have no objectives, but I'm glad to see that there are some studios out there who are experimenting with different things.
KiraXD @ Jan 19th 2009 6:28PM
looks more like a mixture between oakami and prince of persia's healing grounds... with a dab of rez thrown in (or any rail shooter)
Sam Page @ Jan 19th 2009 6:49PM
EDIT: Off-topic.
Arturo @ Jan 19th 2009 8:18PM
I'm finally getting my new samsung series 6 next week so this will be great to relax too :D

giantenemycrab @ Jan 19th 2009 8:18PM
wow, that game is really peaceful. It seems like one of those games that you could just sort of zone out and play for hours.. Like Animal Crossing.
Boo @ Jan 20th 2009 2:51AM
Reminds me of their other game, Cloud. Flying through the air and collecting clouds. Only in this case, it's flower petals. Also reminds me of Snake on the old cellphones.
Deuce @ Jan 21st 2009 12:36PM
I'm curious about the game anyway, but one of my friends is the composer of the music, and I'm very curious to hear his work on this one.
Deuce @ Jan 21st 2009 12:41PM
Wow. Talk about reaching for a metaphor.
Here's a novel idea: If you don't want to play it, don't. No one is holding a gun to your head. Complaining about it certainly isn't going to do anything useful for anyone... least of all you.
The secret to not caring about something is not talking about it, either.
