Thank goodness for nostalgia. Otherwise, Super Mario Bros 2 would be banished from the Mushroom Kingdom. While it is quite different from all of Mario's other side-scrolling adventures, it's still no slouch. By using different characters for different levels, the replayability is greatly boosted. The gameplay was simple yet consistently great, and the game fueled the imaginations of children across the planet.
Some argue that it's just slapping Mario's face across a crappy game. Indeed, a well-known secret is that the Western world's Super Mario Bros. 2 was a Mario-ized version of Yume K?j?: Doki Doki Panic. But what some may not know is that the original game was also the product of Shigeru Miyamoto's wonderful brain.
