Video Games Live premiering 'Halo 3: ODST' tune in Seattle this weekend
Video Games Live has announced it will debut music from Halo 3: ODST at its Seattle show this Saturday, January 24. The symphonic treatment will be given to the music heard in the ODST trailer, along with standards to the experience. Halo composers Marty O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori, plus members of Bungie, will attend the concert and take part in a post-show meet and greet.
Tickets for the concert are still available. Oh yeah, Gabe and Tycho from Penny Arcade will also turn up at the post-show festivities. So, brush off your tuxes for a night at the symphony.*
*You don't really have to wear a tux ... just have some class and don't show up in shorts and a J!NX shirt.**
**We love J!NX.

Living in Seattle and having been to the Paramount for quite a few concerts I have to say that it seems like a pretty shitty place for a symphony. Then again, where there's a will, there's a way.

Being a fellow Seattleite I agree, why didn't they go to Benaroya Hall instead? I don't know how who goes where, but it is a much better venue.
Ahh well. *shrug*

I don't have time to click on those links; could someone explain to me what "Video Games Live" and "J!nx" are?*
*This isn't really relevant to the blog...**
**...because I'm a douche. Sorry.

VGL is a series of live concerts in which the performers play music from video games.
J!nx is a clothing brand that seems quasi-related to gaming.

Sorry, Strategy_Panda, but that was the wrong answer.
The correct answer is:
Go look it up yourself, you lazy bastard.

I'm sorry S_P but I'm afraid that Courtney does, indeed, have the correct answer. Thanks for the info tho!

I saw VGL when they came to play the Tilles Center on Long Island. It was a great show, and I'm buying tickets in a heartbeat next time they're in the area.

Wow, the post concert meet'n'greet seriously trumps the one I went to.
Seriously, if this is within driving distance to you, go. It was arguably one of the most fun concerts I've ever attended.

I love Halo just as much as the next fan, but i'm really not psyched about this ODST thing...

It's an expansion. I'm happy to be getting something besides multiplayer add ons for a change.
MarkHawk @ Jan 19th 2009 11:59PM
Joystiq needs to score some tickets and give them to me as a gift. I'll report on how cool the event was for you. Do some Live Blogging.

I got to see them when they came to Orlando last year (first show of the season). It was an absolutely amazing concert and it really bums me out that they're not going to be anywhere close this year.

cant wait to see what odst have to offer. halo is such an awesome universe to me for gaming that its hard to say it will be a bad expansion.
not real sure about halo wars though. i think is what star ocean, halo wars and killzone 2 all on the same day. going to be a good month for everyone.
markhill66 @ Jan 20th 2009 12:29AM
According to Major Nelson's Twitter, he'll be there, too.

+1 to the shoulda been in Benaroya Hall.
Either way, I'm going. It's the irresistible fusion of my two great loves.

I'm going! traveling 2,300 miles from Little Rock, AR.
CH3BURASHKA @ Jan 20th 2009 10:00PM
Holy Crap. They probably have a venue closer to you.

Awesome news, I've already got my tickets.
I was never a very big Halo fan, but I definitely liked the music in the games. Nice to hear that Gabe and Tycho will be there, I had the pleasure of meeting them and chatting with them a little bit at last year's PAX and they are fine fellows. Sounds like an exciting Saturday night*.
*Man, I'm a nerd.
