Family Glide Hockey.. What hell is this...?!

High Voltage Hot Rod Show, indeed, horrible name. Too bad they didn't have wifi races and DLC tracks for stuff passed 6 - seems like a missed opportunity! Still looks pretty good.

I believe it's a "sequel" to Family Table Tennis. A friend bought that for me as a gift, and it's actually pretty good. It's like a slightly-better Wii Sports Tennis. And the visuals aren't bad, either, especially considering it's a Wii download title.

Perhaps actually playing the games before disparaging them would be an interesting change of pace.

Just for a week.
You know, to shake things up.

You what else would be an interesting change of pace? Something good coming to VC/Wiiware for once. There's plenty of good reasons to make fun of it when you see what gets released week after week.

VC i can kinda see where Tmac's coming from. It really seems like they stopped caring a while ago, WiiWare, however, has had quite a few good games considering the platform's age and limitations

For once?

I'd tend to agree with Mr. Khan. There have been quite a few good games. 6 of the Top 10 games for 2008 on the Wii were WiiWare by Metacritic's standards.

I really see a lot of people dismissing games before they even try them, and that's just ignorance.

You guys can't be serious about VC going down in quality. Really, either you're not following it, or you know terribly little about classic gaming to complain on a week when M.U.S.H.A. was released. Hardly a top 25 shmups list is made without including that classic.

And last week was Castlevania III. So seriously. What?

Hot Rod seems a decent game. I'll not be picking it up because got a backlog of games to play, and Wiiware games to buy, so this isn't a high priority.

Nice! MUSHA is one of the all-time great Genesis SHMUPs. You all should get on that.

MUSHA is indeed all kinds of awesome. It features an actual story (if somewhat simplistic), an excellent soundtrack composed to match the onscreen action, plenty of fancy background effects and satisfying vertical shmup gameplay.

Though the VC is loaded with shmups, I believe MUSHA is better than most.

I plan on picking up High Voltage Hot Rod Show. Looks really fun.

And WiiWare isn't much to laugh at... World of Goo, Megaman 9, all 3 Art Styles, Boings, Bomberman Blast, Defend Your Castle, Dr. Mario RX, My Life as a King, Gyrostarr, Hot Rod Show, LostWinds, the Strong Bad games, Tetris Party, and Toki Tori. Plus we have more to come like Bit.Trip: Beat, Animales de la Muerte, Cave Story, LIT, LostWinds 2, and Swords & Soldiers.

How is that something to laugh at?

And Groovin' Blocks, which is just awesome.

I picked up Art Style: Cubello this weekend because I was bored. Damn that game's great! Okay it's not going to change the world, but it's a really nice change from 'normal' 2D puzzle games (while not being completely irritating like Orbient) and I love the robot voice.

I'm surprised that Nintendo conspiracy theorists haven't been claiming that Nintendo is holding off on the big retail game releases specifically so that Wii owners dig back into the WiiWare vaults. :) Because Nintendo? IT'S WORKING.

Think I'll wait for a review on the Hot Rod game. Looks fun, though maybe slightly pricey for what's presumably a rather short single-player-only game. (Yes, it's technically four players, but I don't have any friends who play video games, so in practice.)
