The Australian game market reached $1.3 billion (USD) in sales during 2008, a 47% increase year-over-year, reports MCV. Ron Curry, CEO of the Interactive Entertainment Association of Australia, adds that it reperesents a 112% increase from two years ago. He believes the sales surge has to do with the "huge variety of games" now available for various demographics.
This news follows similar reports of increased consumer spending on games in the US, UK and Canada. Australia is great and all, but our questions about Mexican game sales continue to go unanswered.
