Nintendo is looking to cash in with their line of GameCube-enhanced-for-Wii games, Play on Wii. Of course, in the UK and North America it's called New Play Control!, as we've already reported. So how much will these games fetch?
Well, Pikmin is set for a February 6th release, with Mario Power Tennis releasing on March 6th, and each title has a suggested price of £39.99, according to retailers. Nintendo has stepped in to say that their recommended price is £29.99, but it would seem that retailers aren't following that guideline. Should these games go for full price, even if they've got reworked controls taking advantage of the Wii's unique capabilities?

I'd pay full price for Metroid Prime. That's it.

I'd consider $30 for Pikmin and Metroid, but probably still wait for them to be on sale before I'd purchase.

I've been to amazon recently and they got Mario Tennis preorder at 27.99... I think all it takes is one retailer to sell the games for the right price and the others are bound to follow.

£39.99 seems to be about $55 usd.
£29.99 is about $41 usd.
I think $29.99 usd is the highest I'd pay.

lol NO.
This is sad. It's bad enough Nintendo recycles Animal Crossing every year and calls it new, but reaching out to other games too?
These games shouldn't be higher then 20 bucks American.
On the plus side I'm glad I have all these games on the Gamecube anyways.

When these games were first announced, I thought for some reason that it was going to be several of these games on one disk. Man I was wrong!!
I bet if they had put two games on one disk and charges $39.99 they woudl have sold big time!

I was really excited about Pikmin for 20 bucks, as I've never played the first one. At 30 or 40 bucks, I'll be waiting for some reviews to see why I should buy it for the Wii instead of getting the Gamecube version for about 12-14 bucks or just passing it up altogether. Is there more game in there, or is it just the same game with mouse instead of joystick control? That's not worth an extra 20 bucks.
The other ones don't interest me at all right now. The only thing that allowed me to enjoy Metroid Prime was the lock-on aiming. I don't really play shooters but that was a great exploration game with the lock-on thing added. From what I understand, Wii Metroid Prime uses a normal reticule controlled by the Wiimote, and assuming MP is done the same way, I'll pass. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat might have been interesting at 20 bucks, but for 40 I'll spend the extra 10 bucks and get Wario Land: Shake It.
I'd totally shell out for Super Mario Sunshine with Wii controls, though, even at full price. Ditto Wind Waker, though even better would be Ocarina of Time with some higher-resolution textures and a better frame rate.
But of course, these games aren't aimed at Gamecube owners. They're aimed at the majority of Wii owners, who never bothered with the Gamecube and never got exposed to these games.

Just to let you know, the control scheme for Metroid Prime 3 (which is the same scheme used for the two ports) still has a lock-on system that fixes your view on the baddie you want to shoot. You are still able to aim freely while your view is locked-on, but all it takes to hit the target is to hold the remote at the center of the screen. Hope that clears things up!

I'm in the UK and I'm just doing to wait a bit until they reduce the price.
RRP in the UK seems to have been completely ignored recently when it comes to Wii Games, in the run up to Christmas I saw Wario Ware Smooth Moves for (what was then) about 85 USD...

The last time these games were on retail shelves, they were Players Choice titles and cost about $20. If these great games sell for less than $40, they'll stand a chance in the market. I think that due to the reworked controls, the games should be more than $20 at least. The games will offer a different experience for returning players after all.
Don't miss out on these titles if you passed over them the first time they were released. If the price tag is a problem, you could also pick up a used Gamecube copy of the game like I did at a stocking stuffer sale at the local video store. I got Pikmin 2 for $4. Score!

Well... I imported the Japanese version of Play on Wii Pikmin and so far, I would pay full price. I got it for around $40 from Play-Asia, but if it was full price, I would've payed it.

Remember that these games get bumped to a widescreen mode and 480p progressive scan... Along with some small graphical improvements.
