1UP Show staff returns as Area 5 with new show
21
Unwilling to let a little thing like no longer being gainfully employed slow them down, the 1UP Show team of Ryan O'Donnell, Matt Chandronait, Cesar Quintero and Jay Frechette have returned with a brand new moniker -- Area 5 -- and a brand new show called CO-OP. The very first episode, available right after the break, features a bevy of former, current and very recently current 1UP staffers recounting their top games of last year.
The show currently has no advertising or revenue model, so if you like what you see and hear, perhaps a PayPal tip would be in order.

I wish them all the best in getting this project going. They've put so much effort into their work and to see them continue to do what they love after getting laid off is really inspiring.

I am sure that is coming, video files in podcast form are expensive to host. For now you can subscribe in an rss reader to the youtube channel, and be able to see when new ones are posted.

usually i dont have patience for long videos but watching this was made me see how passionate the 1up crew was about not only 2008's best games but their livelihood. nothing bitter or sardonic, they just did what they would've like they still get paid.
cant wait for the continuation.

They need to form like Voltron with Giant Bomb, get all these laid-off games journalists under one roof.

I hope they can keep this going. 1up yours and the 1up show were basically the only podcasts I watched/listened to other than Diggnation/Totally Rad Show. They literally took my weekly entertainment schedule and shat on it when they fired the staff of those podcasts.
It's a shame that the economy is in such ruin, because I'd love to see them get a corporate sponsor. In better times, Revision 3 probably could have brought them on board, but I don't see that happening now. If IGN were smart, they'd try to get them, because they have infinitely more credibility between them than anyone working at IGN ever will.
