After all the crap that Sony has had to endure from the xboxxor camp, I'm surprised they've been as civil as they have been so far. So if just bringing up the fact that the PS3 has deeper hardware and a better value than their rushed piece of "PC in a box ver.2" can make the xboy that angry I'd hate to see what incomprehensible babbling would pour out of his mouth if Kaz REALLY stepped up.

Kaz isnt a total idiot he just has faith in the product and he's willing to jump in front of a bus to say it. It's not the best way to do things and yes Phil Harrison was much more diplomatic about it, but I think part of what he's doing, inadvertently, is forcing Sony to try and prove him right just so they can avoid looking bad.

"I can't imagine any scenario where the PS3 can catch up with us. In fact, even if you doubled the current PS3 sales and Xbox 360 remained flat, they couldn't close the gap until 2014."

its just not going to happen, its all in his head..
sony did not state 1 fact and the above one explains it all...

crap sony got from ms?
u are a misinformed fanboy...
lol.. sony wrote off microsoft and nintendo about 4 years ago regarding the new generation of gaming. they were hot headed and thought they had this gen won due to the success of the ps2 alone.
it probably feels good for microsoft to rub it in the face of sony when they have talked so much crap about microsoft.

Of course Sony will never catch up.

With people having to buy 360s 2,3,4, even 5 times because they break down so much, how can Sony possibly compete?

So by your logic, when they buy that 5th console, what do they do with the other 4 that were all fixed for free?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Because they still think that after buying a 360 for the 4th time it's cheaper than a ps3?

That's a shame GundamWingEW or whoever you are. I guess you're saying 360 fanboys aren't very smart...

MICROSOFT WON THIS VERBAL BATTLE HANDS DOWN...
sony is out of touch...
greenberg said:
"That complacent attitude is out of touch with where the industry and consumer is today."
pretty much explains the sony comment...

and for the grand finale...
"I can't imagine any scenario where the PS3 can catch up with us. In fact, even if you doubled the current PS3 sales and Xbox 360 remained flat, they couldn't close the gap until 2014."

lol.. thats a great fact to add, especially when joystiq pointed out that sony did not have 1 fact or figure to use in their out of touch statement.

Who cares about the Wii?! People that play Wii are either, (a) too young for a driver's license, (b) have a driver's license and an AARP card.
I take that back, as long as more mainstream folks are playing video games, I look less like a slacker.

Its good to read the whole quote through the link. Hirai might be correct about catching up with the 360 when it comes to worldwide sales, but Greenberg is only referring to US sales when he says that the PS3 can't catch up. Worldwide, the PS3 isn't that far behind the 360; its only in the US that the 360 has a huge lead.

hmm, Sony's boomerang controller might've been designed with controller fights in mind.

well i'm a Sony supporter more than of Microsoft (although i have all the consoles) but i gotta go with Greenberg on this one. Marketshare is a lost war for the PS3, they should just be focusing on trying to make some money at this point and not worry about the competition's install base so much. there's always next gen.

Sony should really get these arrogant big wigs out in this 'major reshuffling' they are doing. they are seriously killing the company with their stupidity.

Well if the PS3 "red ringed" with as many of it's consoles as the 360 did, then the PS3 would catch up. Many, many people went out and bought a second and third 360 because every 360 kept failing.

In the overwhelming majority of cases, people don't buy an additional 360 because they had one red ring. There's plenty of people that do have more than 1, but I'd think typically it's because they want to have the multimedia capabilities in more than one room. Same reason people buy more than one PS3. I'm sure there's some people with plenty of spare pocket change that're impatient for the first one to get back from the shop, sure, but I wouldn't think it's a decent enough amount to factor heavily at all into sales #s.
