Sega of America has let go of 30 employees, a rep for the publisher told Edge. In an emailed statement, the company explained that during this time of "economic recession, harsh retail landscape, and the reality of business challenges to profitability," the company must take steps to reduce "cost structure and ensure long-term success."
In the future, it would be nice to see Sega invest in the promotion of its more unique titles (Valkyria Chronicles says hello) instead of focusing so intently on that past-his-prime blue hedgehog.

I hope they're laying off the bozos who have been turning Sonic into a travesty and not the geniuses who made Valkyria Chronicles.

I hope so too. Just when Sega started showing some promise in it's upcoming games, this happens. I hope the Wii games theyre making like madworld aren't delayed because of this. I haven't bought a game for dust coated system in over 9 months.. but I'd really like a reason to turn it on. Common Sega.
PS: If you're listening Sega, just make a 3D Rush game on the HD consoles.. that's all you need to do to make money.

I just hope MadWorld isn't a complete disappointment like every other "Mature" wii game: No More Heroes, Manhunt 2.
My wii would be getting dusty too if it weren't for my wife. That came out wrong.
I like the 3d rush update idea. I think they just need to completely rebuild the sonic franchise with one priority in mind(the one that got us hooked in the first place): the speed.

I feel bad because I haven't picked up Valkyria Chronicles yet. I definitely will, but I just got a bunch of games I should get through first.

I've got Valkyria Chronicles, but I haven't started playing it yet. I've been playing Fable 2 and Star Ocean: First Departure in between day-long sessions of trying to get my PC working again. Hard drive failures aren't fun. :(
Neither is getting laid off. I hope all of these people losing their jobs are able to find work elsewhere.

Good thing SEGA isn't making Madworld, Platinum Games is... so it shouldn't affect it at all. They should Lay off Sonic tho. Raikoh is from Otogi. From Software made Sega Published.

Wait a minute... Sega still has an American branch?
Could've fooled me, since the Japanese have made the decisions that sent Sega down the crapper

That hedgehog looks less "past its prime" and more mouth-foamy and rabified.
