If they clean up the graphics and controls (both of which look decent, but definitely need work), I might pick it up.... Now I just need a Wii to play it on. Anyone wanna help with that?

This is exactly why I sold my Wii at a dramatically lower price than I paid for it.
I didn't even get $50 bucks worth of use out of it... thats about the same as buying a controller for any next gen system, and not having the system. That said, the anticipation of getting said system would be more enjoyable than my Wii ever was.

Good:
It looks like you can aim the flashlight around while walking in third person, which is awesome. Not a fan of the normal "only point the direction you walk" method. I think this is great because you can get scared and wave the flashlight around instead of it just pointing one way, and exploring will be easier.

Bad:
On the other hand, the searching looks tedious. I don't want to open every cupboard and drawer with waggle, nor do I want to have to check everything. Items can still blink in 2009.

Middle:
Combat looks shaky at best. Melee might be fine, but shooting would require a whole different camera angle or it would just be duck hunt. I'm also not sure on the fixed camera angle either; I would rather have an over the shoulder, but that would make the wolf fight really awkward. Maybe something like the angle at 2:09 where it follows the player, but is pulled further back than a normal OTS camera.

If they could get it pretty looking like The Conduit they'd definitely have a sale with me.

I think they are going for a different take on survival horror rather then an action game with atmosphere. I wouldn't be surprised if they kept Combat to a minimum or removed it like Hudson's wii title Calling (or at least Im pretty sure there's no combat).. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/298167.html

Minimal might not be bad, especially if they're going to also make you look for heat sources to stay warm. But if there isn't much combat, or any at all, the flashlight loses lots of suspense. It would still be dark, but you don't have to worry about bumping into anything. Calling looks creepy, but it also looks like lots of QTEs.

I think n-Space also developed the WiiWare version of Target Toss Pro: Bags, which is good and criminally ignored by gaming outlets.

yeah, Dead Space seemed to try and bring back the balance. You had the semi-overpowered weapons of Resident Evil, but you had to manage your ammo and there were many times where I started thinking "Oh shit, oh shit, I got no chance against this guy/I didn't see this monster sneak up on me, I better get my ass outta here!" Instead of how CAPCOM and Konami seem to worried over whether or not it appeals to "Western gamers" (with good reason, Im sure) which meant less atmosphere, more PEW PEW PEW.

I actually like the controls (from what Ive seen of them, of course). Say what you will about the original Resident Evil/Silent Hill controls (HURR HURR HURR UR A TANK LOLZ!) at least then I knew if Im going to pick a fight with this zombie, I better have a fucking strategy for both attack and retreat. Its put up or shut up, big time. Thats what I feel has been missing in these so called "Survival Horror" games, I don't want to be Johnny Supersoldier because it doesn't create an atmosphere. The point of Survival Horror was to be "you are an average citizen in a situation you obviously shouldn't be in, SURVIVE AT ALL COSTS". But thanks to Resident Evil 4, its now "You are Johnny Supersoldier, you have more than enough overpowered weapons to get you through any situation with relative ease, go from point A to point B and shoot anything that moves". There are many moments when Japanese developers need to stick to their guns, and the Survival Horror genre was one of them.

I think survival horror needs risks, but I don't think they should come from lame controls. If they make your character effective in combat, they need to increase the enemies' effectiveness at least the same amount. Resident Evil 4 (and having played the demo, 5 as well) have not done this. Ganados/majinis will just mill around waiting to be shot unless you totally ignore them, very seldom will one come up and attack you immediately.

Dead Space was different. You nearly had shooter controls, but you needed them. Enemies were on you right away. Your character was effective in combat and still in danger, which made the whole thing more intense. It was "Oh fuck, scary enemies!" instead of compensating for bad game design.

Exactly my thoughts. I hate the shitty classic RE controls, and they're pretty much the only reason I've never finished any of them other than 4. I loved 4, but I did think it was a bit too easy. I recently got Dead Space and am loving it, and though I'm still finding it pretty easy the enemies do feel a lot smarter and more challenging than the ones in RE4. You often get chased and the main challenge is finding a safe place to take them on. I just wish that once I'd found a nice corner to hide in there was a bit more to taking down a horde of enemies than two shots in the left leg, then one in the head/arm. The only time I've ever used anything other than the Plasma Cutter is against the little parasite things that latch onto you...

Wii needs games like this. I pledge right now to buy every mature-themed Wii game that gets a metacritic score of 7.5 or better. That is how desperate I am for a reason to turn on my Wii other than my friends wanting to fucking bowl.

Hmm... Interesting... I was a huge fan of Geist and I wish it had done better. This game however... I can see that it has potential, and I really like the new HUD-less games trend, but the Wiimote and nunchuck becoming extensions of the players hands seems to boil down to forcing you to manually open every cupboard door and drawer you find, which is not particularly fun.

The video and screenshots don't look brilliant, but it is probably incredibly early and it already looks better than some Wii games... If they say they want to make it look good, and they've already been crazy enough to make a non-casual Wii game, then I'll believe them.

Controls also look a bit dodgy. I'm not really sure how it's working, it sort of looked like a point-and-click game at some points, but the movement looks PAINFULLY slow, classic RE-style and I hated every RE game before 4. It's kinda hard to say about anything else since we've seen so little, and I can't really tell how some of the things we've seen worked, such as the wolf fight, but it at least looks like it might end up being good...

Enough with the extremely dark and scary games. This could easily be a really cool detective story ala Farenheit. Something with a really good story and characters. I'm so tired of the deformed shrieking monsters, it's a cop-out.

But in Silent Hill the monster design represents the torments endured by the protagonist. There IS symbology there... unless some fucktarded western dev decides to throw cannon out the window and throw in fan fav monsters just to show they "get" the series...

Why is everyone dissing the old Resi. 4 was my least favorite. Its a great game true, butIt feels like it doesn't belong in the Resident evil series sometimes, and it certainly wasn't scary like Resident Evil 0. Billy Coen and Rebecca Chambers made that my favorite game in the series. Rebecca cause she gave that element of fear neede in a horror game cause she was so weak and easy to die, and Billy was that tough guy that balanced it out, plus they had limited ammo making it more scary. In 5 the developer admits to making it more action and less scary.

Oh and this game looks cool.

Love the graphic, and that genre of games. The WiiRemote speaker can make good horror games if they use it right.

Looks interesting too bad the wolf was so anticlimactic. Music could use some serious work since it wasn't suspenseful in the slightest, which is to be expected since it's nowhere near done.

n-Space? The developer of one of the best yet under-appreciated games on the Gamecube, Geist? What more does a publisher need to know!

This game is fantastic by default just by being related to Geist.

I also want to add that the camera looks like it will be incredibly annoying.

And I think they stole their music (when the wolf appears) from the Lord of the Rings.

If you read last year's book Grand Theft Childhood, you know that most parents interviewed for the study agree that all video games are for kids. There is no such thing in their minds as a game designed, developed and published for adults.

Thus, publishing a game like this for the Wii is just asking for trouble from the many parents that assume the Wii to be a kid-friendly console. With that said, I'd love to see this game published on the Wii. :)

So, if they want to attract attention just put some thought into a 3-4 hour "trailer" to the game and put it up on wiiware, attract attention to it and get the funding you need to secure a disk publisher.

I think making a mature game for the wii is an excellent business opportunity. The other consoles are so saturated with good, mature rated titles that many often get overlooked or lost in the fray, whereas the wii has relatively few of these titles. I thought Farcry 2 (X360) looked pretty good, but with all the other titles that came out around the same period, I don't have the time or money to bother with it.

Any quality mature game that is made has little competition and is almost sure to get tons of press. Just look at the conduit as an example of this. I doubt that it would recieve a fraction of the attention it has if it were on any other console...

Additionally, with the huge install base that the wii now has, you would only need to sell the game to a fraction of owners and still make a killing...

PS. Please excuse me if this coment is a repeat of someone elses ideas, I haven't read all the others...
