Age of Conan still in development for Xbox 360
Funcom is still developing a Xbox 360 port of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, the publisher reiterated in an interview with Eurogamer. The affirmation comes after PC player subscriptions for the MMO dropped and half the servers were shut down.
Game Director Craig Morrison wouldn't go into specifics beyond the fact that the company still plans on having a version on Microsoft's console. Morrison describes the team working on the console version as small and dedicated. Heck, it's worth a try. Then again, who will test it? Didn't QA get laid off?

You can do it kitty!!
Quattro @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:53PM
I don't think I would buy an MMO for a console after hearing it's PC version is so unsuccessfull they had to close half their servers.
Quattro @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:54PM
In case you're wondering I didn't mean to reply to you.
Phantom @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:54PM
It's not unsucesful, it's just that the lich king came out, I'm suorised it even survived that...
Duke @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:49PM
I have seen my cat in that spot a few times and damn it, he finds a way to get the water...then promptly knocks the glass on some electronic item.
Anyway, I was looking forward to trying this game on console, but am not expecting it to actually ever arrive now.
Trev @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:06PM
That could be to teach you a lesson about leaving half full glasses of water sitting around, but cats are spiteful bastards so it's probably just to see you cry.
Saria the Cat @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:20PM
I don't know what it is, my cat also loves to drink from the glass like that. But I make sure it's filled high enough for him to get to it because I don't like seeing him struggle. :(
Most cats are smart, they'll dip their paws in the water then suck on them.
The_Punisher @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:57PM
Half full of half empty?
Turd Ferguson @ Jan 22nd 2009 6:05PM
I'm pretty sure Trev's dead if M Night's aliens ever come 'round.
DBuck_Eye @ Jan 22nd 2009 10:16PM
The glass is neither half-full not half-empty: it's twice as big as it should have been in the first place.
LZBravo @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:49PM
Hmmm...I was looking forward a MMORPG on xbox live. We will see how this pans out.
AoE @ Jan 22nd 2009 6:01PM
There's always FFXI or PSU ;)
Ozyman666 @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:53PM
Actually, my cat just figured out that he could dip his paw in the glass and get all he wanted.
Ken Seang @ Jan 22nd 2009 6:08PM
lol thats what my cat does too as well.
ittybittygirl @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:00PM
Does that mean somewhere in the bowels of Level 5, there is still hope of seeing TFLO released for Xbox? I'm believing it because I can.
Jeremy White @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:00PM
I can't see this game doing good...
You have the casual gamers who aren't gonna pay $15 a month. (i don't really know how much it is)
You have the people who keep up with MMOs that know AoC got off to a very bad start.
Really, all you have left is people who just want achievements or people who like the game, which is obviously small since half of the servers shut down.
I think if they can fix all the bugs and make the game worthwhile, I'd probably play it. I'd love to see a console on MMO... kind of.
monkeyhole @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:18PM
You know FFXI has been on the PS2 since 2004 and the 360 since 2006, yes?
I know it's an old game, but if you're looking to play an MMO from your couch, it's a good start.
AoE @ Jan 22nd 2009 6:03PM
Also let's not forget Phantasy Star Universe!
FFLightingAngel @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:01PM
Umm okay?
In other news Obama gets to keep his Blackberry!
Duke @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:18PM
How dare they post gaming news! WTF is your problem?
JWC @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:02PM
They had a QA team?! I played that game for 2 months and I can tell you that the game deserved it's fate; long on promises short on delivery.
Riley @ Jan 22nd 2009 11:36PM
well, apparently they didn't do a very good job, seeing as how they were the first to go
JWC @ Jan 22nd 2009 11:39PM
I was gonna say that but it seemed too cruel.
Strategy_Panda (Pot & Spoon 4 Life) @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:04PM
I could see Conan doing well on the xbox.
If they spruced up the combat system and a gold membership wasn't required to play (didn't the Final Fantasy MMO do that?) they might have a nice, captive audience locked down.
Freeze @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:11PM
F**k Conan. I WANT to see Funcom finish Dreamfall/Longest Journey game. The third one is sorely needed.
Freeze @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:12PM
Well instead of saying "finish the game". It should be finish the story
Strategy_Panda (Pot & Spoon 4 Life) @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:13PM
wow, two bans in one day? that's got to be a new record
mernmern @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:17PM
I hope the developers working on MMOs are considering utilizing the chat pad for the 360. It can be had for next to nothing on certain sites with a 12 month live card and it would allow for a more extensive control scheme.
Professor Lario @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:23PM
Good call on the chat pad - I hadn't thought of that. Which is probably why I don't develop games for a living... : )
Halwende @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:34PM
Yeah good point but that still seems a little finicky to me - plus they're more likely to utilise live voice, I mean what's the attach rate of chatpads vs headsets in the wild?
Still, supporting both wouldn't hurt
Alien Lord @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:33PM
I hope this never makes it, I hate MMO's they're a waste of everything.
zuburi @ Jan 22nd 2009 11:37PM
Now you know how I feel whenever I accidentally read something your brain shits onto your keyboard :(
Trev @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:40PM
Nah, he got 3 or 4 in a single article arguing with one of the writers.
Einhanderkiller @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:43PM
From what I heard, the 360 version of Age of Conan had zero progress on it when the PC version released. Some people at the studio didn't even know a 360 version existed. I don't expect AoC to come out on the 360 for a long time.
MegaSnort @ Jan 22nd 2009 6:05PM
Really?! Jeez Funcom. Check out Failcom.com for all your AoC info.
Some AoC "features" listed on the box-
Bar Brawiling
Unreal Dx10 Graphics
Lore True to Conan
Large Epic Siege Battles
Savage Bloodmoney System
Hours of Content
Instancing
Tradeskills and More!

I don't have a cat. :(
Strategy_Panda (Pot & Spoon 4 Life) @ Jan 22nd 2009 10:47PM
seriously? damn, you need to buy about 13 cats just to catch up with everybody else... don't think about it just do it before its to late!
Longhorn4Life @ Jan 23rd 2009 12:00AM
how did you get banned, damn i missed it
t_m @ Jan 23rd 2009 2:25AM
I could see this being popular on the 360.. but i'm not sure it'll ever make it out.
TBH, they probably should have put it on the 360 first.. they wouldn't have had so much competition, and a violent game with good graphics and half naked women seems a perfect fit for the 360 audience.
Not sure if subscriptions would be the way to go.. maybe xbla microtransactions would be better... people with 360s seem happy to pay for lots of DLC.
jimmybolt @ Mar 17th 2009 9:37AM
yes i agree, i think they should have brought it out for the 360 earlier. but still it's really worth a try, it can be succesful, just don't wait too long to release it, because somewhen people won't care anymore. then you never know what it could 've been like if you had released it in the right time. just ignore the few small problems and fix the big ones. don't waste too much time on the interface altough it's very important (you're already working over 1 year on it, it seems your team working on the xbox version is too small).
Mr Lee @ Jan 23rd 2009 8:40AM
The saddest thing is about this how desperate you are to write something eye catching and negative about AoC. You're like a child with his fingers in his ears *LA LA LA CAN'T HEAR YOU* past all the positives and then pluck out a very minor point so you can post your favorite lolcat pic from the Internets. Do you still do Michael Jackson jokes at parties too?
Shagittarius @ Jan 23rd 2009 9:59AM
AOC is complete Ass. Worst MMO ever made, there are no good parts. What a waste.
