I Am Alive, but I've been delayed

It's me, Ubisoft's forthcoming first-person survival game. You know, I Am Alive. We met at E3, remember? I briefly exposed myself in front of you and left you somewhat confused ... but curious. You've been wondering about me, haven't you? We'll get to know each other in due time, it's just that ... well, I lied. I know I said I'd meet up with you in March. And I know that neither of us believed it, you with your "skepticism" and me with my nebulous features and infrequent public appearances.
So, I'm going to be running late. Rest assured -- I Am Alive -- but I won't be leaving the office until Ubi's 2009-2010 fiscal year, which runs from April 2009 through March 2010. I know it's hard for you to understand, but it's for the best. I just ... I just can't let people see me covered in so many bugs. Despite my most fervent wishes, I can't make an exception for you -- it would be a fatal exception.
Yours truly,
I Am Alive

Hope this game won't involve collecting water bottles or saving citizens
ToRo @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:38PM
The fuckers did the same thing with splinter cell. Seriously wtf is up with splinter cell?
Hyams @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:41PM
Apparently they pretty much scrapped what they were working with and started over from scratch. Rumours are pointing to it being multiplat this time round, too.
Also, they've changed the name from "Splinter Cell: Conviction" to "Splinter Cell: Forever".
(Okay, so I made that last bit up.)
ToRo @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:53PM
lol I see what you did there. Yeah, splinter cell is my favorite video game franchise and it's a shame that they still haven't released a splinter cell that tops Chaos Theory yet.
But I guess it was for the better (the delay). From what I saw of it, I wasn't feeling the whole Assassin's Creed/Jason Bourne thing they had going on with conviction.
xGeneral DEATHx @ Jan 22nd 2009 2:42PM
Agreed, Toro...they need to go back to having Fisher tied in to the NSA and using those sweet gadgets.
BTW, if you haven't read any of the Splinter Cell novels, they're actually quite good...give them a try sometime.
Strategy_Panda (Pot & Spoon 4 Life) @ Jan 22nd 2009 2:50PM
good like World War Z good, or Da Vinci Code good?
xGeneral DEATHx @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:00PM
Somewhere in the middle of that...you have to be a fan of the games to really jump into them, though...everytime I read one of Sam's lines, I can hear Michael Ironside's voice in my head.
Travis @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:23PM
Yeah, I love the Splinter Cell novels. I've read every one so far (Unless a new one has been written in the past few months that I didn't know about). If they make another one, I'll get it.
Hyams @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:39PM
Well, this is certainly a bit of a relief. I'd like this to be good, plz.
Jerk Face @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:06PM
Me too. I'll wait for a game to be fully polished any day over having something rushed to meet a deadline. And this game intrigues the hell out of me from that teaser trailer.
MrSpaceCowboy @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:40PM
I can't wait to start solving problems with violence!
... again! :D
mr mobius @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:43PM
It's fine. We can wait.
I'm sure plenty of people except people with too much free time are still getting through a backlog of games.
WRE @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:50PM
Word to your mother!

I don't have that kind of moneyz. :(
Brucie_K @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:56PM
Am I the only one who enjoyed reading the article? I found it to be quiet humorous. Well done, Ludwig.
J-Link @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:58PM
Best. Article. Title. Ever.
Flame @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:59PM
For some reason that pic screams "Fallout" to me... yep I'm addicted to the game *Sigh of joy*
Alex @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:32PM
Yep.
Very 'DC Ruins' style.
I hate Super Mutants.
Quattro @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:46PM
I was thinking I Am Legend.
J-Link @ Jan 22nd 2009 1:59PM
Yeah, I liked the whole the game is talking to the reader thing.
WRE @ Jan 22nd 2009 2:01PM
Games talk to me all the time. Why would that be unusual? Guys?
Strategy_Panda (Pot & Spoon 4 Life) @ Jan 22nd 2009 2:35PM
do they tell you to burn things?
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 22nd 2009 2:01PM
Delayed is good as long as its good.....dont want it to be delayed for no reason and come out and be shit.....i.e. Legendary.....
Dralthi @ Jan 22nd 2009 2:21PM
Dear I Am Alive,
That's okay! Take your time! I'll be too busy playing Resident Evil 5 to bother with you anyway!
Cheers,
Dralthi

Awesome write-up!
Archr5 @ Jan 22nd 2009 2:29PM
Fatal Exception? very clever.
xGeneral DEATHx @ Jan 22nd 2009 2:45PM
I love that avatar, Archr5...I tried to make it my avatar, but I haven't been allowed to change mine in months. I see that suffocation icon on all the new incoming PC slipcovers at work.
Misfit Toy @ Jan 22nd 2009 2:57PM
Classic writing. Thanks for giving me something joyous in my day Ludwig.
You know me @ Jan 22nd 2009 8:00PM
I'm guessing the point of this game is to stay alive.
BobbyBob @ Jan 22nd 2009 8:12PM
Okay, I can't have been the only one to laugh out loud at "I briefly exposed myself in front of you and left you somewhat confused ... but curious."
Yeah, I was TOTALLY thinking of something else...
