ya, no kidding. if it's not on the PSN store by the time I get home tonight. Sony leaves me no choice but to buy it from Hong Kong PSN instead. I just found it last night almost got it because it's an English version as well. I give you guys one more day though US PSN. ;o)

How are tower defense games a "relatively new genre?" I remember playing tower defense maps back in the days of Starcraft (before the Brood War expansion) on BattleNet with Use Map Settings. They were always classics, and once Brood War came out, they remained fan-favorites.

Maybe the concept of charging money for a standalone, Tower Defense-only game is new, but you can still find all kinds of TD games for free in Flash format across the Net.

Yes, in future reviews, even if a game has no multiplayer or co-op please make note of it. It's an important thing for readers to know one way or the other.

Nice review Jem. I think I'll have to try this when it comes out here :)

BTW in the second para. I think it should be; 'Your base is at one [end] of the level ' (I'm not being picky, it just jumped out at me)

Thanks. More of these types of reviews would be greatly appreciated (plus you guys, when you do review, tend to be *gasp* actually on time unlike some other publications).

I own this game and have completed it (got all the trophies too!). It's an actually an easier game than it first appears. I struggled with a couple of the levels midway through, but once I beat them I realised that the same strategy can be used on the majority of the levels. Once I'd worked that out it didn't take me long to get 100% of trophies.
I would recommend this game, but IMO it's not as good as PJ Monsters, which I was very very addicted to. I'd give SM a 7/10. Hopefully there'll be DLC in the future to extend the experience.

I'm probably the only one, but I didn't care for PJMonsters and I like tower defense type games. I just didn't like running around trying to set up the defenses and collecting money and having to worry about not getting hit by the monsters. I prefer just being out of the picture and controlling it that way. Looking forward to this one.

Sadly there's no co-op in this games (like Pixeljunk Monsters has) but the Vengeance mode (a kind of survival mode where waves upon waves keep pouring in until you die) is a very nice alternative. And there are enemies who can destroy your towers, which was quite an unexpected surprise...

It's unfair to complain about the CCTV into before the first wave since you are able to turn this off in the options menu.

Great game, it's amazing seeing 15 fully upgraded machine gun turrets firing hundreds of bullets at one huge insectocyte!

I keep coming back to this game, definite recommend.
