"It's worth noting that former creative director for Crystal Dynamics, Eric Lindstrom, has stated that the DLC levels were originally intended to be included in the retail game, but were cut as the result of "a production issue" that would have caused the game to miss its ship date."

So...uh...why is it not free then?

Well you see, the problem with making content free is that the company doesn't get money.
And companies like money.

Didn't you know? Thats the habit of all these game companies now. They'll "cut" stuff during production so they can include it as "extra" content.
If people didn't pay for it, they wouldn't make it.

X360F hasn't quoted that properly.

They ACTUALLY planned the DLC a long time ago and a SMALL PORTION of the game was cut and set aside for DLC because they:

a) Ran out of time to include that portion of the game with the retail release

AND

b) They felt the DLC didn't have as much content as they would have liked

They certainly DID NOT say "Let's just chop off half the game and shove it up as DLC for 30000000000 Microsoft Points.

As unfortunate as it is - regardless of the whole issue(s) behind this content, I'll be purchasing both when they are released.
