I heard Famitsu speculated that it was the end of the series but.... The series is pretty popular, and this IS NamcoBandai we're talking about... I kinda have my doubts this will be the last of the series.

It's official:
The .hack// license is now dead.
After having an abhorrent main character in the G.U. series, they are bringing him back!?!?!?!?
After the first hour of .hack//INFECTION I was hooked on the storyline, and I loved how they portrayed Kite's difficult decision of whether to risk his life and save his friend or not. Sure, we all knew he would save his friend, but he showed that he was scared for his life, just like any of us would be if something crazy like that would happen to us.

But Haseo. He didn't want to continue because he wanted to save his girlfriend, he just played The World: R2 to impose his will in a blind rampage against everyone.
If you don't like the fact that there are Player Killers, just stop playing the game and support another game that you actually want to play!

I will not buy anything else from the .hack series UNTIL Namco Bandai/Bandai Namco gets it back to it's roots!

(Original .hack series fanboy)

And don't get me started on how much I hate the music and voice actors from all the .hack//G.U. series! (Also, instead of showing The World from many viewpoints, a la the first .hack series', .hack//G.U. was the same people, over and over! No originality!)

Shino was a former member of the Twilight Brigade and, upon falling into a coma, instigated Haseo's search for the revival of the Lost Ones.
She finally awakens at the end of the series, and gives Haseo her member address again (he lost it when he was data drained by Azure Kite).
After being PKed by Ovan, her consciousness was sealed in his arm and she was with him watching over Haseo all along.

And at no point in the Game and the anime does it even mention that Shino was Haseo's Girlfriend.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot that every girl on the internet is actually a guy.
Either way, Haseo is definitely the type of character that would not have done a damned thing if he saw the same thing happen to someone he didn't know. He pretty much was like "This person falling into a coma negatively effects me! I don't like it when things happen to me! I love myself! I need people to look up to me! I will do whatever I can to seek vengeance on all those who have negatively affected me in this video game, no matter how many I leave dead and bloody and dieing along the way, just so I can have a great article in The Times, no matter how many people I leave dead and bloody and dieing along the way!"
That's right, Derek Zoolander!

Anyways, once anyone pissed off Haseo he would go on a blind rampage and do whatever he could to get his way. Just look at the whole PKKer thing. Ooooh! He was killed by some PKers his first time in The World: R2, and he didn't like it, so instead of playing another game that didn't involve player killing, he decided to kill all the player killers, which didn't amount to much, because they showed that player killing was still rampant.
"Hey, this guy just killed me after I killed someone else. What a douche. Now I have to kill people for another ten hours to get back all the equipment I lost!"

Whoa whoa whoa, last in the series?

I'm calling BS, as last I checked, CC Corp was still in discussions for where to take the heart of the franchise next and that ALL three current generation console were possible candidates.

If anyone seriously thinks that they're ending it on some meh quality PSP game, they're out of their minds. The series can only go forward and if anything, G.U. would've made more sense as a stopping point.

There's just 'too' much untapped potential for the series to stop it here. It's a very niche series appealing to science fiction fans of an even more niche audience. As one quite well versed in the series myself, it can ONLY go forward. CC Corp would be a bunch of idiots to stop here.

Hmm, looks interesting. Although that's defiantly Elk, not Tsukasa.
