A trailer for Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings has popped up online. Watch as Indy gets thrown through a window, escapes floods, uses a whip, steals an amulet, and runs away from gunfire -- all without ever losing his trademark fedora. Yep, all in a day's work.
According to the video, it's coming Spring 2009 for Wii, DS, and an unidentified PlayStation console (it's already been rated for PSP and we know Wii games often see a PS2 port). This is great, LucasArts. Really ... but any chance of getting an Indy game in the vein of Indiana Jones and The Emperor's Tomb on 360 and PS3?
Oh, it all makes sense now: IGN's rumor; the vague response. Sounds to us like that project won't ever see the light of day, while Staff of Kings is LucasArts' "commitment" to the franchise. Is it possible to miss something that was never released?

How long has this "hardcore fuck off haters" genre of gamers exist?

depending on who you ask, it started somewhere between Nintendo's E3 Conference and today.

over at VGChartz, we call 'em the "snobcore," but i've felt that name wouldn't fly too well over here
Aside from the fact that it isn't a totally applicable term. Most of the people here have legitimate qualms with the Wii, there are only a few proper elitists

Snobcore sounds terrible, just terrible. More so than even hardcore or hardcore gamer. Never use snobcore on this site again, Snr Khan.

Are you guys saying that there is no such thing as a hardcore gamer? What i don't like is the confusion between "hardcore" and "mainstream", people think if they play COD4 or Halo, and only those games, that they're hardcore, meanwhile a true hardcore gamer plays tons of different games, indies, and even Wii games....we should go on a campaign to set this difference straight!

Looks good, but by looking at Indy this game definitely isn't a sequel to Crystal Skull. So what I'm wondering is when does this take place, hopefully inbetween Last Crusade and Crystal Skull imo.

It's probably prior to Temple of Doom, given the name Lao Che on the door, and Indy's youthful appearance.

It looks alright, if not completely pre-rendered
As for Indy, where the fuck is Harrison Ford?

You act as if there's even the slighest possibility that it's not pre-rendered... Even if it was a PC/360/PS3 game it's obvious that's not in-game...

If it is anything like that awful "thing" that happened back in 08 (please don't try to remember it) the fewer consoles have it the better.

So not only did George Lucas *$@% Indiana Jones, ala Deliverance...
He's succeeded in turning his vocabulary into that of an ape...
"uh, uh" "oo, oo" "ug" "ahhh"
Seriously, just listen to the sounds Indiana makes... WTF.
I half expect his face to look more neanderthalic.

Okay Indy IV wasn't completely awful. It should have been a LOT better but did any of you manage to enjoy at least a little? I found it entertaining - nowhere near the quality of the trilogy - but it's better than The Phantom Menace.

I actually enjoyed it.. I think people just hate these things for the sake of hating them. It wasn't as good as the first or third movies, but was easily better than the second.
And all of the movies have been very silly and unrealistic, so I don't get the complaints about the plot. The aliens were much less farfetched then half the things in Temple of Doom, and they're an important part of the Crystal Skull myth, so..

I still hold the opinion that Temple of Doom would have been the greatest action movie ever made if Lao Che's men had thrown her out of the plane.

It was good seeing Dr. Jones back on the big screen. People seem to forget that most of us where kids when theses movies came out. If you go back and read the reviews of Temple of Doom and Last Crusade, people were saying the same thing about them as the Crystal Skull. I liked the new movie, I think it fits in nicely with the others. I still don't know why people hate on Lucas so much. Without him, there would be no Indiana Jones or Star Wars.

Honestly, I didn't find anything particularly wrong with Crystal Skull. It's not as good as the other films, but it certainly isn't terrible by any means. I think most of the hatred comes out of people expecting it to live up to impossible expectations, that it must be better than Raiders. I feel like most just pick one thing that annoyed them and backpedal from there.

It was an enjoyable movie. Though nothing close to the level of the first 3 (including Temple of Doom).
I actually thought the first 2/3rds were fine. (except for the fridge bit, which we should never mention again.)
the main problem i had was there was no ending. After they found john hurt's character it all went downhill. Indy does almost NOTHING for the last part of the movie.. they just all trail along behind Hurt. And there is no big end action scene. It really needed a big end fight scene or something.
Its just indy telling everyone to run (for no obvious reason) and the girl dying (for no obvious reason).

I never got why people bitched so much about Crystal Skull OR Phantom Menace. I enjoyed both movies. In fact I even enjoyed Episode 2, if you ignore the shitty romance bits. The internet was made for complaining though you see, so people have to complain about something...

Take out bad dialogue, Gungan race, cheap plot lengthening devices and you might have a decent Star Wars movie.

I'd rather keep Jar Jar than the young Anakin's "oops" dialog and his miraculous destruction of the space station. Actually the whole space station space battle was weak. The veteran pilots (the actors) and their banter were poor and didn't feel believable, whilst Anakin didn't seem all that concerned in the kind of trouble he was in. Jake Lloyd's performance in some parts really killed it (ex. he's "frantic" search of the weapon systems of his downed craft with his blah blah thrown about dialog was terrible).

I don't think anyone could claim Phantom Menace was fine, even without Jar Jar.
I often think that you could cut together Episodes 1 and 2 into a reasonably ok movie.. godfather2 style, with Episode 1 being mostly used in limited flashbacks.
Really, the only good parts of Episode one were the Jedi Intro and the final duel. And the final duel was ruined by the continual interruptions for the two other (terrible) battles.

That's what I'm saying T_M!
That could've left room for Darth Vader to really kick some ass in the 3rd movie!
Anakin didn't need to be a child for the whole first movie, just do a jump forward a few years, training montage er something.

This trailer does nothing. There is no gameplay, and looks like only done for the preview.
Indy IV was not that bad, it just had a few mishaps, but I still enjoyed it. Remember these movies are supposed to be B-movies based after 50's serials. The movie was right on line with that.

If you're doing a new Indy movie years after the successful trilogy, you certainly do not want to say "Remember these movies are supposed to be B-movies based after 50's serials, people! I want B quality here!"

But if it's for the Wii..and you use the Wiimote to swing the whip..I thought that we'd be "too tired" to play this for long periods? At least according to Konami (i.e. Castelvania), anyway.
Maybe if this goes well/ok we'll get a proper Castlevania game for the Wii. I'm not going to hold my breath, though.
