Finally LBP gets the recognition that it deserves. I should have one every single award for game of the year. MGS was the same as it always has been. LBP is way more innovative and creative than any other game out there. I would rather play the LBP version on MGS that the actuall game. I love LBP! I hope it completely sweeps all the awards that it has been nominated for. Good luck Media Molecule and LBP!!!!

MGS4 was NOT the same as it always has been. It became to westernized and it lacks in everything compared to the other MGS. Sure, it's still one of the best games this Generation, up there with Uncharted, LBP, and Gears.. but it doesn't compare to the others in the series.

It's not the same as it always has been. But I do agree, LBP should win.

MGS3 was the best. Full action packed plot, entertaining characters, no mind-fucks or theatrics and theories on life. Just pure awesome.

I don't understand the hype behind this game. To me, it's a souped-up version of Mario. But I like Mario and don't think it needs any modifications.

Aren't all games just souped-up versions of older games? First-person-shooters are just souped-up versions of those shooting-gallery booths they used to have at carnivals.

I got voted low because of that? Haha. And to mgsrocks1, I have it. So obviously I've played it. Why would I judge it without playing it? I just don't understand what's so fun about it. I was looking for an explanation, not a scolding. Grow up guys.

You were voted down because your comment is pretty dumb, and if you've actually played it and you still think it's a "souped-up version of Mario", that's even MORE stupid.

Jason, a lot of times people from 360fanboy comes over here to post crap against the PS3. They probably thought you were one of them. Don't mind people voting you down, it happens to the best of us :p

Anyway, LBP is mainly so popular because of the fact that you can create your own levels, anyway you want.
After that, you can publish levels. When I first got the game I didn't think it was that cool. It was just a platformer to me. But then I created a level... a very bad one... and I played a couple online levels and I was amazed by how awesome people can make levels.

Right then and there, was when I was struck by how awesome LBP was... not by creating a level, not by watching a video, and not by platforming..

By seeing how people use tools... and how amazing things can turn out. Really, it was like Mario until that point where I started to create levels and play levels of other creators.

"Finally... I can say - this is living Playstation"

;)

Jason, I'm sorry... I had the best comment ever but this freaking stupid comment system didn't post it... this comment wont nearly be good as it because I gtg to basketball.

Basically... all the LBP hype is from creating a level.
And roto, shut up, stop it. Your one of those guys that make all PS3 fans look like Jackasses... grow up.

Sorry for you being ranked down... it happens to the best of us.

I agree. I've been gaming all my life, and I have yet to be swayed by this game. Sure, it can win awards for innovation-- but does the fact that something is *innovative* make necessarily *fun*? In this case, I don't think so. LBP is over-hyped and shouldn't win any awards except 'weirdest game you won't be playing in six months'.

They deserve it. In my opinion it is the most innovative game I have seen this year and one of the best. Not to mention I love the music. Its catchy and not annoying.

No need to get hostile and hurl insults! It seems like a glorified side scrolling game. You need to relax buddy.

Jason, most of the time there is a guy from 360fanboy coming over here to flame the PS3. When there are guys like that, people will rate you down for everything bad you say about the PS3, or in Roto13's case, shove out insults (I know, about a video game...). Don't worry about it, it happens to the best of us. :p

Anyway, to answer your question... I used to be just like you. Exactly like you. What really is LBP... why does it have so much hype... I mean it's just a platformer, right? No! It's not. I found this out on my own, not from a video, not from everyone saying it rocks... not from the gameplay (you'll understand this when I get to it)

I rented the game to see if it was good enough to pick up. I played throught a little bit of the story and I was just... not really amazed, you know? I didn't want to really play it anymore... because it was just another Mario. I didn't wanna go out and spend 60 bucks on another mario game.

I returned the game, and a couple weeks later I went to a party. This party was pretty bangin, and at the end when everyone left my friend popped in LBP telling me how awesome it was. I told him I already played it and I didn't think it was that good. He talked me into it and we began to make a level. There we were... making the level. It was pretty challenging to get everything just right... when I accidentally placed a bomb in the wrong spot, and blew up the whole map!

I swear, I forgot about the undo button we could use, and I jumped up and down laughing so hard. We just spent an hour on a level to watch it be blown away.

It was an amazing experience.. so amazing I went out and bought the game. Went to the community levels, and guess what! This game turned from a simple platformer... to a "OMG. HOW DID THIS GUY MAKE THIS?! ITS SO AMAZING!!"

Sure, the gameplay is just a platformer. But... it's a gateway to USER designed video games! You can do so much! You can make anything you want!

I know, I know, I seem like I'm getting over-excited. But the LBP experience is the best experience I have had since MGS1. This game... this game is amazing. It's gameplay is Okay, but the overall experience... is incrediable!

This sounds weird that I'm saying it about a video game, but the Playstation advertizments finally make sense now...

"I can finally say... I've lived"

"This is living"

LBP! 10/10
I hope this helped, because it's coming from a guy that said the same thing you did once before. If you read it all.. thanks.. because it took awhile to type. If you didn't, it won't hurt, will it :p

It's worth asking, are you playing it alone? As much as I like the game with people, it's mind-numbingly boring playing alone. At least in my opinion.

It's more like a PSN title that you buy for $20. I think if it was sold as such it would've gotten more acclaim ala Braid on XBLA.

To Araskaz: Thanks for the solid answer. I guess I have to give it more time before I form my opinion. To PSN: Erdie: I tried playing once online and the person I was with had a terrible connection. I suppose I should give that another shot as well.

Jason, don't worry I didn't really enjoy this once I had completed it as I'm not into creating my own levels. I did enjoy some of the good levels that people had created as they must have spent hours doing them. The MGS levels were a welcome addition but I personally only play it now with my 8yr old son as he enjoys it alot more than me.
My opinion is that it is a well designed and good looking side scrolling platform game that I enjoyed for a while, but I do enjoy other types of games more (NOT only FPS's before I get the usual comments!).
As a side note, I don't think your comments deserved to be voted down.
