Resistance 2 patch 1.40 coming Monday, un-resets your experience
The update will also correct Trophy errors, such as the one requiring 10,000 kills -- if you've done the deed but not gotten the reward, this patch will retroactively apply it. Full patch details after the break.

Multiplayer Progression
Some people have seen their competitive and/or cooperative characters reset to level 1. For several of those cases, this patch will not only bring back all the XP, stats, and attributes that you've lost, but it will also add to your character profile the XP/stats/attributes that you've earned since those levels were reset. For example, say you were a level 20 medic and after being reset to level 1, and you earned 5,000 XP. Thanks to the patch, you'll return a level 20 medic and that 5,000 XP will be added to your profile.
This patch will also correct some medal and trophy issues, including the "Killing Machine" trophy (if you've already accumulated 10,000 kills but haven't received this trophy, it'll pop up as soon as you download the patch).
Here are some additional patch 1.40 details:
Trophy/Medal/Ribbons
- "Salute Me" trophy is not awarded until player reaches level 31 (Lieutenant)
- "Berserker" trophy can be collected during non-ranked games
- "Survivor" medal can be collected in cooperative games
- "Sure Shot" ribbon is awarded if player has accuracy of exactly 50%

- Core Control scoreboard displays "Kills"

- Rossmore reticule better reflects its accuracy

why not the LS2LS7? @ Jan 23rd 2009 11:03PM
Forget all that nonsense. The biggest change is the stalkers will walk around in co-op.
It is currently somewhat hilarious when the voice over says how fearsome the stalkers are and then they just sit there barely able to shoot when you run across one.

lol, in the beta i just ran circles around them and had my teammates shoot it.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Jan 24th 2009 1:27AM
lol you dont even have to run in circles, i just move like 3 feet left and right. those things where a joke. maybe they'll be more challenging now like the 3 star Titan Primarchs. those things are a bitch! especially when they have Hybrids, Ravagers, and Chameleons trying to liberate them.
nightmare452 @ Jan 23rd 2009 11:17PM
NICE. Some very nice additions and fixes. Will get back to playing it on Monday then (not that I stopped, but want to see some of the changes myself)
G-man @ Jan 24th 2009 12:48AM
Wake me up when the patch allows the second player to level up too...
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Jan 24th 2009 1:30AM
i dont know if that will be possible (at least locally). PSN isnt like Live where you can have 2 profiles logged in at the same time. at least from my experiences with both so far that's my impression.
G-man @ Jan 24th 2009 1:46AM
But you can do it on Big Little Planet!
Trev @ Jan 24th 2009 2:35AM
The PS blog post says that the ability to do that for both players wasn't added until a later firmware and that they're working on it. It won't be in Monday's patch, but it is in the pipes.
G-man @ Jan 24th 2009 2:45AM
@Trev Thanks buddy, I really hope so, I'm bloody tired about playing and having a handicapped 2nd player. B.T.W does your screen gets smaller (do you get a big black frame when playing 2p?) how do you get rid of it?
Hyams @ Jan 24th 2009 7:28AM
Can't get rid of the black bars. It's like Halo. The devs added it in so that each player's screen is still 16:9, so that they don't get an unfair advantage (a wider view) than other players.
Haggard @ Jan 24th 2009 8:56AM
It's better to have black bars on 4:3 than to have the top and bottom of the picture cropped off for widescreen players (a la Far Cry 2 (even in singleplayer) and inexplicably, Bioshock). Luckily both those have been patched to not punish people who paid extra for widescreen.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Jan 24th 2009 11:20AM
yea ur right now that i think of it. and i have Little Big Planet too and play with my friends from time to time. brain fart lol.
Hyams @ Jan 24th 2009 11:25AM
LBP does it differently. You can log into a different account on the PS3, but you can't log onto their online PSN account.
This works okay for LBP, because all the stuff you collect is stored locally on the PS3 itself, but doesn't work for Resistance 2, because all your stats are stored online.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Jan 24th 2009 1:24AM
cool. i've been playing the co-op alot lately (mostly as a Medic because of the unbalanced XP lol) and i noticed some of the glitches. most of the stuff seems to be fixed with this patch though. maybe i can actually play competitive now, it was so frustrating because the matches were so unbalanced some of the time. really hard to get better, unlike in co-op where i can consistently finish in the top 2 now.
the one thing i was looking forward to being fixed though that isn't is the fact that when you play in multiplayer online with another local player and you change your load out, the load out menu blocks and pauses the entire screen. but since it's online, the other player usually dies if they weren't dead already too. really annoying.
mobile Stalkers FTW!
Haggard @ Jan 24th 2009 9:00AM
Nice patch. I'm still waiting for it to come out as Platinum though.
Kodros @ Jan 24th 2009 2:12PM
Yay, I now get the 55 hours of progress back that I lost when my data got corrutped!
