And they're green! 'TMNT: Smash Up' announced for Wii

In "shell-ebration" (it says here in the press release) of the 25th anniversary of the world's most fearsome fighting team, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ubisoft has announced a new four-player fighting game that is "not tied to a TMNT movie, television show or comic book." Instead, as indicated by the incredibly subtle subtitle, TMNT: Smash Up will share ties with Nintendo's absurdly popular Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In fact, if the staff of Game Arts -- developer of both games -- dress formally at work, the ties shared will be quite literal.

Sensing that a few screenshots depicting the titular turtles (including the one who does machines and the one who is a party dude) may not satiate everybody, Ubisoft encourages interested parties to check out the January issue of Nintendo Power for more information. Meanwhile, look for TMNT: Smash Up to arrive during Fall 2009 and cause fighting purists to complain about "turtling" in a whole new way.

no, you will never get a good connection with Brawls online. there will always be a delay between button presses and character reactions.

Brawl with TMNT is not a good idea, I'll leave my Wii to collect more dust until Overlord Dark Legend and The Conduit are released or something else worth getting is released.

If by "Brawl with TMNT is not a good idea" you meant best fucking idea ever.. then I agree.

The features don't sound half bad though, Alien Lord. Check out Gonintendo, they have a couple of articles up about the game.

Can I just say thank God for that excessive colored aura. I mean, otherwise, the 6 foot tall turtles would have gone unnoticed.

Why don't they leave the Turtles alone? Let them die in peace instead of trying to remake them into all kinds of crap.Trust me. Putting them on the WII will only make it worse

Trust someone who hasn't played this game yet is already judging it? Sure why not.

I have played games for a long time now. I know crap when I see it. But no one wants to use their eyes anymore. I could have seen that Too Human and Castlevania Judgment was crap from the the beginning but everyone else preferred to pretend to it had potential and made excuses instead. Just like they are doing now with Dead is Rising for the WII. Besides I know the WII's track record. Most of the games that are made by third party developers get grade D and lower

i would love a xbl/psn rehash for the turtles in time arcade game.

Hmm... I might be in the minority here, but I did actually like the TMNT movie game that came out a couple years ago. At the time, it was about the only way to get a Prince of Persia like experience on one of the next gen consoles. (And was better than the crappy CG movie it was based on...)

Of course, I'll always have a place in my heart for the original ninja turtles arcade game and even the well intentioned NES port of it.

Lets hope they keep the Pizza Hut tie ins out of this one though...
