When the third DLC scenario for Fallout 3, "Broken Steel," hits Xbox 360 and PC in March, it will replace the game's current ending, which doesn't allow players to keep on exploring the Capitol Wasteland post "end-game." This is something we've known since last November; what we didn't realize is that PS3 players -- already missing out on any DLC action -- will continue to be stuck with the current "brick wall" ending.
When asked by MTV Multiplayer if there were plans to patch the PS3 version of Fallout 3 for end-game play, Todd Howard, the game's executive producer, responded, "Not at this time, no." Howard has also remarked that Bethesda "really underestimated how many people would want to keep playing [past the ending]," and that Fallout 3 was "probably the last time we'll do something like that."

I think this is ridiculous, Bethesda is a well-respected company and the only way I can see them doing this is because they are being paid behind someones back, [Insert well known, well off company name here].

you xbotx really are idiots aren't you.
Gundam, you didn't do anything to become the vitcor. Alien, if you really believe Bethesda is not releasing DLC on PSN because they don't like Sony or BD, you are a complete idiot. PS, you lose more points for using a dollar sign.
Microsoft paid Bethesda. Neither of you win anything, and if you really take pride in bragging about being able to play Fallout 3 DLC, I can rest assured knowing that you probably can't function outside your bedroom socially.

Honestly don't know where the downvotes come from, if it's not Bethesda's "laziness", which I know that they are not, what would it be that is holding them back?
And no, I'm not a PSTool or an Xbot, so get off your knees if you think I am one.

Thanks Levi for being the voice of reason.
Everyone loses when shit like this happens, because it's only a matter of time before Sony realizes they're gonna have to fight fire with fire and bribe for exclusives to stay competitive. Props to them for holding out this long at least. This is one of the things I really really dislike about this generation of gaming. It's not just at the console level either. Activision keeps doing exclusive deals for songs in music games to, so that you won't see them pop up on Rock Band. One's choice of platform should not be influenced by which company has deeper pockets.

That's the same D-bag?
What a tool. How many monikers does he go by? I can see why he wouldn't want to use the GW name any more: made himself look like a moron using it last time. Dorks like that make XBL look like it's populated entirely by 8 year olds. No wonder my 360 owning buddy has so much fun making them cry over the headset. I would too.
Though, I'm starting to get the feeling that GundamEw is really a Sony fanboy. Why would a 360 fanboy want to give the impression that XBL is plagued by not 1 self important d-bag but a whole legion of them.
Gundam (or whatever you're called this week) - I'm either on to you or you really are the 80th most (no you can't even troll right) pathetic, insecure (no)-self loathing (yes), fruitcake to ever troll the web and if you are any indication of the xbox fanbase, I want to stay well away from any sort of xbox for a long time.
But the main point here:
I never buy DLC one of the reasons I got a PS3 actually: I don't care about the GTA dlc and I care about this even less. When I'm done with an old game, I get a new game. If any of it turns out to be phenomenal, I'll probably get F3 used for the PC eventually for $5 (by that time) and try out all the user mods while I'm at it. Sorry, should I be boasting about that? Ooooo, I'll get mods and all you TV gamers wont, nanny nanny goo goo and all that.
I'm just worried that Sony might be pressured to do the same (throw money at companies until they agree to some sort of exclusive content) which would be (as we can see) a ridiculous waste of resources. Resources that can be used to bring out some more original ideas like the Youtube integration instead of copying the competition more.
However, I do wish they had allowed us to play past the ending, that was just a really lame finale to a really great game. Although, I'm playing with an evil character now and I'm not going to be done with it any time soon.

It's a vicious circle, really. The devs don't want to spend effort on a port that didn't make them much money.
Of course, it didn't make much money because people discovered they released a piece of shit.

The game is just plain broken. I experienced this myself watching a friend play. You have to skip certain parts of the game because they have a high probability of freezing your PS3.
How this even passed beta testing, I'll never know.

I know for me that was the biggest reason I stopped playing fallout 3, and why I continued to play Oblivion for 2 years after its release. There was no point for the game to end the way that it did. I'm actually quite surprised Bethesda "underestimated" fans desires to continue to play.

I agree. It seems so obvious that players would want to keep, you know, playing. Especially when they have a word like Fallout's to experience.

i agree. being a ps3 owner and a long time fan of the fallout series, this kinda sucks, but i'd like to think that, "at this time, no" translates to, "we'll do it later"...
but even still, stuff like this does nothing but divide gamers more and more over something trivial...

@Moptimus Slime, the solution isn't a 1-console future.
Rather, the PS3 ought to be providing an experience that can't be had on the other two consoles. They're doing a good job with their exclusives, but multiplatform games like Fallout 3 really should differentiate themselves by taking advantage of the hardware and have mouse and keyboard controls and be open enough for mod installation. PS3 should try to invade the PC space with MMORPGS running natively (Sony exclusives) or via WinXP/Vista emulation (Everything else //ahem// WoW). If Sony wants to make this generation all about hardware then I say they go for it, get their machine into more homes, disregard game sales, and focus on open-ended PC functionality and Blu-ray sales.

Sure, I could go on for hours and hours about how much I hate where Sony is trying to take the PlayStation brand (I'm looking at you, Mr. Kutaragi, no put the microphone down. No, I said put. It. Down. I don't care if you wanna remind people to work harder in order to buy a PS3. I SAID PUT DOWN THE DAMN MICROPHONE) but the fact is: Taking pleasure out of the pain of people who paid $60 for a complete game only to get screwed by a publisher is just wrong and sadistic.

@ff13 i am not hollier than anyone, nor do i think i am (though i may be hollier than you =)), i just dont see how this is a good thing, because a company is paying a lot of money just to make sure that i cannot play this game, i would say that you are obviously just a big fanboy, i would not be happy if ps3 got exclusive dlc on a multiplatform game, like mirrors edge for example.... i dont care

Bethesda not patching a game? Shocking!
Seriously, though, Oblivion had some very obvious, small bugs that Bethesda never bothered to fix. Morrowind on the XBOX had some rather crippling bugs that Bethesda didn't quash in development.
I like their games, but their reluctance to provide even the simplest of what what should be viewed as akin customer service makes me wary of paying full price for Fallout 3.

They do patch their stuff but only the bugs that are actually fun.
Seriously the only way I could pass through Oblivion was using the infinite money glitch seriously with a Spellwarrior (You know a Mage with a Mana deficiency and a warrior with no muscles) was using a lot of money to have a lot of potions and the best armor at all times without that is like playing on Ultra hard.
Then again I forgive them because even when their games are glithstastic they are still quite enjoyable.
