As I see it, EA is trying to focus more in specific product lines, and curbing some of it`s diversification.
Business-wise, makes sense.

Question: is Bright Light behind EA active?

That's alright then - I know a fair few of the Criterion lot as I worked for them but was laid off in a previous cull & I don't wish any of em to lose their jobs.

I knew it was just a matter of time before Joystiq stopped bothering to report the multitude of layoffs and just announced who wasn't letting people go

EA should just fire everyone at blackbox and be done with it. They deserve it for that disgusting game they had the nerve to call Need For Speed.

See ya in hell Black Box! Maybe if Skate was even half the game SSX was, you'd still have your jobs!

Maybe EA Big will take over the series and salvage what they can... after they release a new SSX.

I thought people liked Skate. Can you really compare Skate to SSX (i.e. skating vs. snowboarding), or are you just saying they should make SSX instead of Skate? I bought it from the company store, but I never got around to opening it.

SSX is not a realistic take on snowboarding, whereas Skate are meant to be a bit more realistic. You can't really compare the two games. Also, Skate 1 and 2 have been well received, so it's not like they're unable to make good games.

I do want another SSX game. SSX 3 was one of the few games I owned on the Original Xbox (I was poor, okay?).

The studios in Britain are probably not having jobs cut because the pound has dropped so low that the running costs actually decreased for EA (in dollars).

That's what I was thinking. Gee it wasn't that long ago that it was close to £1 = $2. Now it's down at something like £1 = $1.3.

Criterion deserves this for all their work on Burnout Paradise. But as someone pointed out, the low pound probably has something to do with this.
