Thanks to the official Japanese Final Fantasy XIII website we now have some idea of what to expect when those countdown timers finish on Thursday. While the North American and European countdowns were shrouded in mystery, the Japanese site isn't nearly as vague. The countdown (which ends at the same time as the other two) points directly to the "trailers" section of the website.
So, expect to see at least one trailer once the countdown ends tomorrow. We expect it'll be the one shown in the Closed Mega Theatre at Tokyo Game Show last year, but hopefully there'll be something new in there too. Who knows, maybe we'll even see some gameplay footage. Yeah, we're not holding our breath.

To be honest, I'm not interested in Final Fantasy at all. I've never played a Final Fantasy game, and I don't plan to, unless Final Fantasy XIII is a good as it's being hyped up to be.
Trailers have never impressed me either. I'm not going to shout with joy, just because a new trailer for my most-wanted game is released.
I also refuse to board "hype-trains".

Yes, that's why you're commenting on the article, because you're completely NOT interested in Final Fantasy.

While you're being honest, why did you even waste your time commenting then?

I'm just trying to contribute to the community by posting my opinion. So what if it's a negative comment; we can't agree on everything, right?

No doubt. If you're so disinterested, why did you even click on this story?

On a related topic, if you chill out on the japan page listening long enough to the one song you will be treated with a whole new song. Sorry if this is old news but I sure was surprised. It sounds like some battle music.

Ditto.
I've heard the story is supposed to concern events 400 years before XIII, and tell how the two kingdoms became however they are in XIII. And I like the whole "empire in decline" genre of stories.

Should be the trailer with the battle in it that was shown behind closed doors recently.
Maybe we'll get to see the other two characters as well (the guy with orange hair, and the asian girl).

You know... I am a Final Fantasy fan not a "fanboy" or "fanatic" etc. BUT I am sooo sick and tired of these "teaser" trailers and snip-its of photos and what not. Please stop %@$#-ing with our minds about the game. Its just an RPG that has its roots settled and will probably not be that different than the other FF games. I would rather prefer to hear about news (and this goes out to the team behind the marketing and websites, etc.) of "new gameplay" or a groundbreaking idea that makes it stand out from the rest of the FF games. Given that they explained the gameplay will be sort of representing FF7 Advent Children but has ANYONE seen a video for it? I mean will North America EVER get a demo? Why not? You "Square" Weeniex guys afraid that it will not appeal to us that much you don't think its that much of a good game? No you wouldn't. You have to make your money. The only reason a lot of people will buy FF13 is because its a next gen FF and THATS IT. Its just another next gen FF to me now because there is so much pointless hype about it.
The only thing I saw that was cool so far was the graphics and the first slew of screenshots. The rest of the stuff they keep showing is just a recycled idea with "new" pics but nothing really new about the game itself. Yea given showing a new character is OK but not THAT MUCH of a big deal. Street fighter 4 did a good job introducing the characters at the pace they did because they first showed screen shots of the new characters and a VERY SOON TO FOLLOW VIDEO of the characters. I would rather see videos than photos of the same recycled crap.
To me this is just like dating a girl who is making you wait till marriage to make out with her. To me I say hey when you are ready then let me know because I think I already spent enough time on you already SINCE SPRING 2006
-oh and to all the FF fanboys who read this and "are" offended by my comment go suck slugs (^_^)

yep too early for their own good, they should have wait for year before release, teasing too much is not good for the heart

I haven't played a Final Fantasy to completion since part 7 on the old PS1. Hopefully this game will draw me back in.
What is the latest on a release date for 360 or PS3 (Rumors or otherwise)?
