How the cutting of people's jobs who were faces to the community strengthening the 360 platform? Now that is something I do not understand.

I hate buzzwords and Bullsh*t business speak.

'The realignments of headcount are directly intended to strengthen the Xbox 360 platform and align resources with key strategic initiatives, including Xbox LIVE."

If i got fired, and that was the reason they'd gave, I'd probably punch the guy who said it in the nose. It implies that those who were fired were not only somehow weakening the 360 platform, but then insults them by saying that there will be Much Better Things with them gone.

I've heard that a lot of layoffs were in the GFW division of Microsoft which really sucks.

If they insist on making GFW a service that people are required to use and want to promote games on the PC, it seems like they should at least keep a good amount of people on staff. Maybe they are trying to roll the Xbox Live and GFW divisions into one entity...

I'm just pissed that I have to use GFW for Fallout 3 DLC and Warhammer 2 multiplayer, and that division is getting huge cuts.

I think their intention of one day fusing the two services was obvious from the beginning

I hope they cut more GFW jobs. Like, all of them. And then shut it down. And then get the FUCK out of the PC gaming market.

You all may not like spin, but its the investors in the company they are most concerned about. So yeah, it may sound cold, but do you expect them to come out and say, "Well, we are all f'd up right now and don't know how to handle things in this house of cards!!" ?

They are going to make it sound like things are ok and they are just making moves to positively affect the company and its future growth - because that is what investors want to hear.

Believe it or not, investors can actually tell when they are being fed a line of horseshit.

Copa, I never said they couldn't tell it was horseshit. What investors can and cannot do/feel/believe in the end was not the point. Corporations always do this kind of spin in hopes of keeping their stocks high.

Believe it or not, I can also detect someone being belittling in a response.

It sounds like the 360 division is fine so I'm fine, if they were cutting lots of staff from the 360 division I'd have a problem but from all accounts it sounds like the PC divisions are getting hit mostly.

If they made cuts in the 360 staff then you wouldn't be fine? Because those people are more important than other people. Because those people warm your home at night and guard you from the bad men who may hurt you? Yeah, sure, makes sense.

Friend of mine works for M$ supporting their Groove product.

He says he's been told M$'s biggest money makers (360-related products, including XBL and it's Office suite) aren't going to be affected.

We'll see.
