Another week, another bundle of
Rock Band DLC oldies for the Wii, which according to the press release should be available now.
Individual Tracks (200 Wii points apiece)
- "Attack" - 30 Seconds to Mars
- "Gimme Three Steps" - Lynrd Skynrd
- "Live Forever" - Oasis
- "Just What I needed" - The Cars
- "Siva" - Smashing Pumpkins
- "Tell Me Baby" - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Fun fact: the
Rock Band series has about 559 songs. At this point, Wii owners have access to 212 of them, leaving 347 songs to go. At 6 songs per week -- not counting any future DLC -- we should see Wii owners catch up to everyone else some time before mid-2010.

The Cars already? They are rolling out the big guns early. Gotta wait till the usual Summer Slowdown before I'll get to this and probably a lot of other games (Guilty Gear)

Everyone wait on downloading those -- four of the six were corrupt when they went online this morning, and since then, people have been having problems with the store giving them a different song (still a corrupt one!) than the one they attempted to download. HMX has said on their forums that they are working on it but indicated a full solution may not come until tomorrow.
If you want to take your chances, some people say things are working for them now, but others say they still have problems. I would wait until you can be sure of what you're getting for your Wii points.

Th entire store seems to be down..
Ostentaneous @ Jan 27th 2009 8:49PM
What about the fact that new consoles will continue to get three new songs a week? Wouldn't that make it closer to the end of 2011? Of course that doesn't include album downloads.
Moleculo @ Jan 27th 2009 9:06PM
They typically get more than three a week, even on weeks when a big pack or album isn't coming out.
MowDownJoe @ Jan 27th 2009 9:18PM
Wii also gets the new DLC at the same time as everyone else from now on.
B3astofthe3ast @ Jan 27th 2009 8:53PM
They DID say that they want the Wii to be synced up soon, so not 2010 for sure.
Mr Khan @ Jan 27th 2009 9:09PM
true, but didn't they also use the word "soon" to describe when the Wii version of this game would actually release in the first place?
Tank @ Jan 27th 2009 8:59PM
"we should see Wii owners catch up to everyone else some time before mid-2010."
And I won't be making this purchase a second sooner...

They should just skip any songs that are "As made famous by".
Tez @ Jan 27th 2009 10:39PM
I'm sure they'd do that if they were stupid.
JJ Rooster @ Jan 27th 2009 9:07PM
That's already more DLC choice than they get with Word Tour (that piece of shit!)
nehal @ Jan 27th 2009 9:08PM
What by 2010 by then rock band 3 will already come out. O well wasn't planning purchasing rock band 2 until I could get it for cheap anyways.
Brett @ Jan 27th 2009 9:11PM
ahhhh 30STM must buy now!
Premature ejaculation man @ Jan 27th 2009 9:15PM
Ross Miller! Why are you not listed as team Joystiq!?
Wiinterfang @ Jan 27th 2009 9:37PM
What! but he is my favorite =(.
futurebiblehero @ Jan 27th 2009 9:50PM
"Attack" should take full advantage of the Wii's capabilities: One person on guitar. One person on drums. One person in smeared mascara, having a Wii-mote slapfight with Elijah Wood.
austin @ Jan 27th 2009 9:52PM
i heard some where that they are going to be releasing old dlc on one day and new dlc on another
Q-Kid-Kyle @ Jan 27th 2009 10:02PM
okay -two questions - 1. I got GHWT complete band kit. Rock Band 2 works with guitar hero world tour stuff, right? secondly, the dlc on RB2 - how many free songs? Do we get "Still Alive"?
Robotic Earthling @ Jan 27th 2009 10:08PM
Yes, RB2 works with GHWT instruments. There are 20 free songs for RB2. Still Alive is not in the store yet, but will probably come eventually.
Calvin @ Jan 27th 2009 10:12PM
Still Alive by Pearl Jam? If so, that's a song on the disk itself.
Sora @ Jan 27th 2009 10:17PM
Calvin, I think he meant "Still Alive" as in the ending song to the game Portal, which is free DLC on the other systems.
B3astofthe3ast @ Jan 27th 2009 10:36PM
I don't think so, as Portal isn't available on the Wii.
Danny @ Jan 27th 2009 11:18PM
I think they are going to hold off on Rock Band 3, I mean they just upgraded their game. I actually almost bought Rock Band 2 for Wii but i bought COD WAW instead. I may buy it later on when the DLC expands more (Disturbed please).
Anyways I for one am very excited about Guitar Hero: Metallica, that'd going to be sweet.
PSIJunkie @ Jan 28th 2009 12:03AM
Is there some kind of damn restriction on the Wii that doesn't allow them to put out more than 6 songs a week? Cause this is ridiculous.
RyFar206 @ Jan 28th 2009 1:39AM
Why don't they just make all the DLC available at one time? Or would that cause the internet to implode?
