Earlier this month, a number of screengrabs for what appeared to be an Xbox Live Arcade port of Square Enix's popular portable puzzler, Yosumin, leaked out of various enthusiast press sites. If they looked legit, it's because they totally were. In a press release heralding the Japanese XBLA launch of Crystal Defenders (a port of a Squeenix mobile strategy game), the company revealed that its second Live Arcade project would, in fact, be a port of the aforementioned portable puzzler, titled Yosumin Live.
This is exciting news for block-swapping puzzle fans, but the real megaton comes later in the presser: "Beginning with these two games, Square Enix plans to release a steady stream of its popular titles -- as well as original content -- on Xbox LIVE Arcade." Try not to let your brain catch fire as you begin a marathon session of fevered speculation.

Secret of Mana Live anyone?
Wait, no, they won't do that. Because they're MEAN.

Square and Enix don't really have the types of games I'd like to see on XBLA, but they do own Taito.
Here's hoping for a new Elevator Action (EA Returns meets Bionic Commando: Rearmed? Hell yes!), Darius, Kiki KaKai, Liquid Kids, and New Zealand Story.
All the download services are in desperate need for a new Puzzle Bobble sequel as well.

I wouldn't be at all suprised to see some old SNES-era Final Fantaseis come to XBLA around the time that FF13 drops on 360. I *would* be suprised to see PS1-era Final Fantasies. Pleasantly suprised...

Tecmo needs to do a remake of Solomon's Key. Anyone here old enough to remember that gem on the NES and the Arcades (the real ones where you actually have to travel to and drop quarters into these giant tele-machines surrounded by stinky, sweaty nerd types, such as myself minus the stinky and sweaty).

Speaking of XBLA, what happened to Peggle? I just remember it being announced by PopCap but nothing else after that.
